Unity Village, Missouri
Unity Village is a village in Jackson County, Missouri, United States, bordering Kansas City and Lee's Summit. Its population was 99 at the 2010 census. It is the world headquarters of Unity Church, which has over 2 million followers. The Unity Tower was designed by the Kansas City firm Boillot & Lauck and built in 1929 to store water. Unity Village is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Geography Unity Village is 15 miles (24.1 km) southeast of downtown Kansas City, at (38.946283, -94.399311). Boillot & Lauck
Boillot and Lauck was a long term architectural partnership between Elmer R. Boillot and Jesse F. Lauck (died September 28, 1968) in Kansas City, Missouri. Their work includes properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The firm focused mainly on residential properties in its early years and expanded into apartment buildings. Boillot and Lauck designed 23 homes in the Coleman Highlands neighborhood. They also designed the Parriott House for oilman Foster Brooks Parriott in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The firm was chief architect for Sedalia Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Missouri. Lauck continued with his own firm after Boillot's retirement. Unity, known informally as Unity Church, is an organization founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore in 1889. It grew out of Transcendentalism and became part of the New Thought movement. The United States census of 2010 was the twenty-third United States national census. National Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2010. The census was taken via mail-in citizen self-reporting, with enumerators serving to spot-check randomly selected neighborhoods and communities. Lee's Summit, Missouri
Lee's Summit is a city located within the counties of Jackson (primarily) and Cass in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. As of the 2020 census its population was 101,108, making it the sixth-largest city in both the state and in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Origin of name The "Town of Strother" (not to be confused with a town of the same name in Monroe County) was founded by William B. Howard in October 1865. He named it for his wife, Maria D. Strother, the daughter of William D. Strother formerly of Bardstown, Kentucky. Howard came to Jackson County in 1842 from Kentucky, married Maria in 1844, and by 1850 he and Maria had and a homestead five miles (8 km) north of town.
