United Voices Of The World
United Voices of the World (UVW) is an independent grassroots trade union, established in London in 2014. Following a vote held at its 2021 AGM, the post of General Secretary was re-established after three years of non-hierarchical leadership, and voting seats on the Executive Committee were assigned to elected representatives of key sectors of the membership. Uncontested elections for General Secretary in August 2021 resulted in Petros Elia winning by default. Its members are mainly migrant cleaners and workers in other service or low-wage/ outsourced industries. UVW has a strong association with the Latin American community, having been formed amid a protracted effort to secure the London Living Wage for migrant cleaners at the Barbican Centre. English Collective Of Prostitutes
The English Collective of Prostitutes (ECP) is a campaigning group which supports the decriminalisation of prostitution, sex workers' right to recognition and safety, and the provision of financial alternatives to prostitution so that no one is forced into prostitution by poverty. The group works against the social stigma that is associated with prostitution, and the poverty that is sometimes its cause. It provides information, help, and support to individual prostitute women and others who are concerned with sex workers' rights, civil, legal, and economic rights. The organisation was founded in 1975, and its first spokeswoman was Selma James. The Sex/Work Strike began in 2018 as part of the International Women's Strike on International Women's Day with the aims of decriminalisation of sex work. Collective Action for Safe Spaces (CASS) is an American nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. It says it is "a grassroots organization that works to build a community free from public sexual harassment and assault." The group's outlook is feminist and intersectional, focusing on how street harassment and toxic masculinity affect women as well as LGBT people and people of color. It supports the decriminalization of sex work through its DecrimNow campaign. The group and its members heavily use social media in campaigns. In May 2016, CASS launched the Safe Bars Collective, a training program to help bar staff recognize signals that someone might feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
