The United States women's national under-23 volleyball team represents the United States in international women's volleyball competitions and friendly matches under the age 23 and it is ruled by the American Volleyball Federation USAV body That is an affiliate of the International Volleyball Federation FIVB and also a part of the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation NORCECA. USA Volleyball (USAV) is a non-profit organization which is recognized as the national governing body of volleyball in the United States by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). It is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was founded by the YMCA of the USA. The organization is responsible for selecting and supporting US national teams that compete in FIVB-sanctioned international volleyball and beach volleyball competitions such as the Olympic Summer Games. 2013 FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship
The 2013 FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship was held in Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico, for seven days from 5 to 12 October 2013. This was the first edition of the tournament. China won the tournament and Yao Di was selected Most Valuable Player. Competition Formula The competition format saw the 12 teams split into two pools of six teams playing in round robin format. The semifinals featured the top two teams from each pool. The FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship featured two countries per confederation plus the host Mexico and the highest country in the world rankings not already selected by their confederation, in this case USA. Qualified teams Each Confederation was allowed to enter two teams into the competition. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The receiving team must not let the ball be grounded within their court. North, Central America And Caribbean Volleyball Confederation
The North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) is the international governing body for the sports of volleyball in Northern America, Central America, and the Caribbean. NORCECA is the continental confederation that represents its 35 member associations at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) level. It also has six associate members: Bonaire, Saba, Saint Martin, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The confederation is responsible for, among other things, the staging of Olympic and World Championship zone qualification tournaments, as well as continental championships for both men and women in indoor volleyball and beach volleyball. FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship
The FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship was the world championship of volleyball for female players under the age of 23 organized by Fédération Internationale de Volleyball ( FIVB). The first edition was staged in 2013 in Mexicali and Tijuana, Mexico and tournaments were played every two years until 2017. The last tournament was hosted by Turkey in Ankara and won by Brazil. FIVB did not announce the 2019 edition of the U23 tournament, later declaring that "As per decision of May 2019 FIVB Board of Administration, the U23 WCH has been abolished." The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship was held in Ankara, Turkey, from 12 to 19 August 2015. This was the second edition of the tournament. Competition formula The competition format will see the 12 teams split into two pools of six teams playing in round robin format. The semifinals will feature the top two teams from each pool. Qualification The FIVB Sports Events Council confirmed a proposal to streamline the number of teams participating in the Age Group World Championships on 14 December 2013. 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship
The 2017 FIVB Volleyball Women's U23 World Championship was the third and final edition of the international volleyball tournament and the world championship for women's national teams under the age of 23, organized by the sport's world governing body, FIVB. The tournament was hosted by Slovenia in the city of Ljubljana from 10 September to 17 September 2017. 12 teams from the 5 confederations competed in the tournament. Turkey defeated the home team in straight sets in the final to claim their first title in the competition. Bulgaria won the bronze medal outclassing Dominican Republic 4–2. The 2014 Women's U23 Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the second edition of the bi-annual volleyball, women's volleyball tournament, played by eight countries from September 7–13, 2013 in Ica, Peru, Ica and Chincha Alta, Peru.
