United States Post Office-Boulder Main
The Boulder Post Office, also known as Boulder Main Post Office, at 1905 Fifteenth St. in Boulder, Colorado, was built in 1910. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places at US Post Office--Boulder Main in 1986. It is a rectangular building taking up nearly all of the site's footprint. It has Renaissance Revival and Classical Revival details and was designed by the supervising architect of the U.S. Treasury James Knox Taylor. It has a metal hipped roof. It was deemed significant as "a well preserved and rare example of the type of post office building constructed during James Knox Taylor's tenure as Supervising Architect.However by 2013 there were 102 listings on the National Register of post offices and courthouses attributed to James Knox Taylor, per NRIS version of 2013. Joe Neguse
Joseph D. Neguse ( ; born May 13, 1984) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the U.S. representative for Colorado's 2nd congressional district since 2019. The district is based in Boulder and includes many of Denver's northwestern suburbs, as well as Fort Collins. A member of the Democratic Party, he was a regent of the University of Colorado from 2008 to 2015. Neguse is the first Eritrean-American elected to the United States Congress and Colorado's first black member of Congress. Early life Neguse's parents immigrated to the United States from Eritrea. 2021 Boulder Shooting
On March 22, 2021, a mass shooting occurred at a King Soopers supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, United States. Ten people were killed, including a local on-duty police officer. The alleged shooter, 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Al-Issa, was arrested after being shot in the right leg. He was temporarily hospitalized before being moved to the county jail. After undergoing mental evaluations during the legal proceedings, Al-Issa was found mentally incompetent to stand trial in December 2021 and in April 2022. James Knox Taylor
James Knox Taylor (October 11, 1857 – August 27, 1929) was Supervising Architect of the United States Department of the Treasury from 1897 to 1912. His name is listed '' ex officio'' as supervising architect of hundreds of federal buildings built throughout the United States during the period. Early career The son of H. Knox and Mary (Young) Taylor, he was born in Knoxville, Illinois, and attended schools in Minnesota. He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he was a classmate of William Martin Aiken, who would precede him in the position of Supervisory Architect, and Cass Gilbert. After graduation, he worked in the New York City office of Charles C. Haight and later with Bruce Price.
