The 2014 United States House of Representatives elections in Illinois were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 to elect the 18 United States House of Representatives, U.S. representatives from the state of Illinois, one from each of the state's 18 Illinois's congressional districts, congressional districts. The elections coincided with the elections of other federal and state offices, including 2014 Illinois gubernatorial election, Governor of Illinois and United States Senate election in Illinois, 2014, United States Senate. The GOP gained two seats in this election, one in the 10th district with the election of Bob Dold in a rematch with incumbent Brad Schneider, and one in the 12th district with the election of Mike Bost over incumbent William Enyart. The gains narrowed the Democrat margin to 10-8 in the delegation. Illinois's 13th Congressional District
The 13th congressional district of Illinois is currently represented by Democrat Nikki Budzinski. Redistricting 2020 redistricting Following the 2020 census and the subsequent redistricting cycle, the 13th congressional district was significantly altered to include sections of the cities of Champaign, Springfield, and the Metro East of St. Louis. All of Macoupin County, and sections of Champaign, Macon, Madison, Piatt, Sangamon, and St. Clair Counties, are included in the new 13th. The redistricting turned the 13th district from a fairly even district to a more heavily Democratic-leaning one, and consequently it voted for a Democratic representative for the first time since 1892. Illinois's 18th Congressional District
The 18th congressional district of Illinois covered central and western Illinois, including all of Jacksonville and Quincy and parts of Bloomington, Peoria, and Springfield. It was last represented by Republican Darin LaHood, who took office in September 2015 following a special election. Republican Aaron Schock previously represented the district from January 2009 until his resignation in March 2015. Darin LaHood is the son of Schock's predecessor, Ray LaHood, and was reelected in 2016, 2018, and 2020. Illinois's 17th Congressional District
The 17th congressional district of Illinois is represented by Democrat Cheri Bustos. It includes most of the northwestern portion of the state, with most of its population living on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities, as well as parts of Peoria and Rockford. The 17th congressional district has shifted northward after redistricting in 2012. It subsequently lost Quincy and Decatur, as well as its share of Springfield. The 11th congressional district of Illinois is represented by Democrat Bill Foster. Geographic boundaries 2011 redistricting From 1865 to 1867, the district included Bureau, LaSalle, Livingston and Woodford counties. The 10th congressional district of Illinois lies in the northeast corner of the state, and mostly comprises northern suburbs of Chicago. It was created after the 1860 census. The district is currently represented by Democrat Brad Schneider. History The area of the district was originally represented by one of Abraham Lincoln's closest allies, Elihu B.
