The Apple Barrel 125 is an ARCA Menards Series East (formerly a NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) race held annually at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The track held a second race in the month of September, the Apple Barrel 125, for two years in 2018 and 2019. For the 2020 season, the track was reduced back down to one race, which was this one, and the United Site Services 70, the original race at the track that was run in July each year, was dropped. In 1996, 2000, 2013 and 2014, the United Site Services 70 (in July) was a race. From 2015 through 2019, the race was 70 laps long. The Apple Barrel 125 has always been an -long event. ARCA Menards Series East
The ARCA Menards Series East (formerly Busch East Series, Busch North Series, Camping World East Series, and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) is a regional stock car racing series owned and operated by the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Races are held at oval tracks ranging from in length and on two road courses, in length. Most races are stand-alone events (i.e. not in conjunction with other NASCAR touring series), but there are three race weekends that are in combination with the NASCAR Cup Series. Many of the ARCA Menards Series East drivers on the series are gaining experience with the hopes of moving up to one of the major NASCAR series, however some of the drivers are right at home in the series and have no plans of moving on. Jerry Marquis (born February 14, 1956) is a former NASCAR Driver who competed in the NASCAR Busch Series the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, The NASCAR Busch North Series and The NASCAR Featherlight Modified Series. He is from Broad Brook, Connecticut. Marquis has won 7 NASCAR Busch North Series races putting him 16th on the all-time list in the Busch North Series. His home track was Stafford Motor Speedway. Jerry Marquis was also infamous for NASCAR's former commentator Bill Weber and the "bodyguard to the stars" incident. He spun out Tony Stewart who was racing a NASCAR Modified race car that day with five laps to go and when the race was over a personal friend was pulled away by Weber and was to do an interview. Dale Shaw (born April 9, 1964) is a former American stock car racing driver. Shaw competed in 45 NASCAR Xfinity Series races between 1987 and 1999, achieving 9 top ten finishes. He also competed in 270 ARCA Menards Series East races between 1987 and 2005, winning 19 races and reaching the top ten 139 times. Brad Leighton
Brad Leighton (born June 12, 1962) is an American former stock car racing driver. He competed in five career Busch Series events in his career. Leighton made his career debut at New Hampshire International Speedway in May 1997, running the #5 Chevy owned by Terry Labonte. He started the race in 30th and only managed to move to 27th by the end of the day after a late crash. However, Leighton did lead one lap—an impressive stat in his first career start. In 1999, Leighton made four more starts, all for BACE Motorsports. In his season debut, he finished 34th at Nazareth Speedway despite fatigue. He was last at Watkins Glen due to transmission failure, 37th at Milwaukee and 36th at IRP. Not only was Milwaukee the only race he finished in 1999, it was the site of his best career start, at 23rd.
