United Nations Avenue
United Nations Avenue (also known as U.N. Avenue and formerly known as Isaac Peral Street) is a major thoroughfare in Manila, Philippines. A commercial, residential and industrial artery, the avenue runs east–west through the near-center of the city linking Ermita and Rizal Park with the eastern districts. It is home to the World Health Organization Western Pacific headquarters. U.N. Avenue begins at a fork in Quirino Avenue Extension, Paz Mendoza Guazon Street, and Cristobal Street, just west of Pandacan. It continues through the area of Tanque and Isla de Provisor in northern Paco district passing several rows of warehouses and a few institutional buildings. West of Taft Avenue lies busy Ermita district with a mix of hotels, offices and hospital buildings. Roxas Boulevard lies at its western terminus, with the U.S. Embassy in Manila as the terminating vista. The avenue is served by the United Nations LRT station. Taft Avenue ( fil, Abenida Taft; es, Avenida Taft) is a major road in the south of Metro Manila. It passes through three cities in the metropolis: Manila, Pasay and Parañaque. The road was named after the former Governor-General of the Philippines and U.S. President, William Howard Taft; the Philippines was a former commonwealth territory of the United States in the first half of the 20th century. Mandaue (), officially the City of Mandaue ( ceb, Dakbayan sa Mandaue; fil, Lungsod ng Mandaue), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 364,116 people. Mandaue City is located on the central-eastern coastal region of Cebu. Isla De Provisor
The Manila Thermal Power Plant (MTPP) is a decommissioned power plant found on Isla de Provisor, in the Paco District of Manila, in the Philippines. Located along the Pasig River, it was sold to the Malaysian firm Gagasan Steel, Inc. by Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM), an agency of the Philippine government tasked with privatising underperforming power assets. History The power plant was composed of two Heavy Oil (bunker C) fired units: Unit One was commissioned on September 1, 1965, and Unit Two was commissioned on October 15, 1966. Owned by the National Power Corporation, each unit can produce up to 100 megawatts. The power plant substantially contributed to the Luzon Grid until they were both decommissioned in January 2000.
