United Methodist Church In Estonia
United Methodist Church in Estonia ( et, Eesti Metodisti Kirik) is a Methodism, Methodist church organisation in Estonia. It is an independent church that belongs regionally to the Northern Europe Central Conference of the United Methodist Church and to the United Methodist Church Nordic and Baltic Episcopal Area. On the world level it is a member of the World Methodist Council. Currently it has 26 congregations. It operates a theological seminary in Tallinn and a number of other ministries. Its official publication is the magazine ''Koduteel''. According to the 2011 census there were 1,098 Methodists in Estonia. According to the statistics from the Estonian Council of Churches, based on the numbers submitted by the member churches, there were 1,642 Methodists in 2012, served by 33 pastors and 1 deacon. The Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church (EELC; Estonian: ''Eesti Evangeelne Luterlik Kirik'', abbreviated EELK) is a Lutheran church in Estonia. EELC is member of the Lutheran World Federation and belongs to the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe. Methodist Episcopal Church
The Methodist Episcopal Church (MEC) was the oldest and largest Methodist denomination in the United States from its founding in 1784 until 1939. It was also the first religious denomination in the US to organize itself on a national basis. Tapa (German: ''Taps'') is a town in Tapa Parish, Lääne-Viru County, Estonia, located at the junction of the country's Tallinn–Narva (west–east) and Tallinn–Tartu– Valga (north–south) railway lines.It is an important centre of transit for freight (mainly Russian oil and timber) as well as rail passengers (mostly Estonian commuters), a home to soldiers since the 1930s.
