United Kingdom Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge
The UK Youth Rocketry Challenge (UKRoC) is a youth rocket building competition, established in 2007. It provides secondary school student teams (of 3 to 5 members aged 11 to 18), a realistic experience in designing a flying aerospace vehicle that meets a specified set of mission and performance requirements. Students have to work together in teams, emulating the practices of real aerospace engineers. Not intended to be easy, and considered well within the capabilities of secondary school students with a good background in science and maths, and some craftsmanship skills. Run bADS its key goal is to ''"Encourage school children to enter the world of aerospace and science"''. The winner goes forward to represent the UK competing in the International Rocketry Challenge against the winners of the American, French and Japanese competitions. Loreto College, Coleraine
Loreto College is a Roman Catholic grammar school situated in the Castlerock Road area of Coleraine, County Londonderry, on the north coast of Northern Ireland. Loreto College educates both girls and boys between the age of 11 and 18. History In 1906, the Ursuline Order took control of an all-girls school, setting up a smaller boys' primary school nearby. In 1922, when the new Northern Ireland Educational Authority was set up, certain qualifications were needed to teach in secondary schools. The nuns, being French, did not have these qualifications so they decided to withdraw from Northern Ireland. The Loreto nuns in Omagh were asked to take over the schools, both primary and secondary. On August 13, 1930, four Loreto Sisters, a congregation founded by Mary Ward, arrived. The Ursulines stayed with them for two weeks to help them settle into their new home. Thornhill Community Academy
Thornhill Community Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status situated just outside Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England. Bradford Grammar School (BGS) is a co-educational independent day school located in Frizinghall, Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Abbeyfield School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England. History The school was built to serve the needs of the expanding population of Chippenham, in particular the large Pewsham and Cepen Park estates. In 1998, while the site was being cleared, two unexploded bombs were found on the site and the Army carried out a controlled explosion. John Leggott College is a sixth form college on West Common Lane, in Old Brumby, Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, England. History Technical school The earliest predecessor to the college was known as Scunthorpe Technical High School oCole Street run by Lindsey County Council Education Committee, based in Lincoln, although its Scunthorpe Divisional Executive was based on Wells Street; this followed on from the Central School in Scunthorpe.
