Unique (musician)
Unique Torralba Salonga, known mononymously as Unique or stylized as UNIQUE, (born April 26, 2000) is a Filipino singer-songwriter and musician. He began his career as a vocalist and original frontman of IV of Spades and later pursued a solo career. Career Band frontman 2014–2018: ''IV of Spades'' In June 2014, Allan Silonga decided to form a band for his son Blaster, who would become the band's lead guitarist. The Silongas were able to recruit drummer Badjao de Castro and bassist Zild Benitez, who are the sons of Allan's friends. Unique Salonga, who was already writing his own music, was later recruited to become the band's lead singer. IV of Spades signed to a record label and released their first single "Ilaw sa Daan" under Warner Music Philippines. The group's second single, "Hey Barbara" was released on July 9, 2017, and followed up by their third single "Where Have You Been My Disco?", released on December 9, 2017, via YouTube. ''Grandma'' is the debut studio album by Filipino singer-songwriter Unique Salonga. It was released on August 13, 2018, by O/C Records. Background and composition On May 5, 2018, IV of Spades frontman Unique Salonga had officially departed from his band, seeking to pursue "personal endeavors", much to the dismay of fans. On July 13, Unique released his first single from the album, "Midnight Sky", accompanied by a black-and-white music video. This coincided with the release of IV of Spades's new single "In My Prison", the band's first after Unique's departure. On September 1, Unique released the second single from the album, titled "Cha-Ching!" with its black-and-white music video, directed by himself. "Sino", the third single from the album, was released on March 16, 2019. Awit Award
The Awit Awards are music awards in the Philippines given annually by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) to recognize the outstanding achievements in the music industry. The word "Awit" means "song" literally in Filipino. The first awards were given in 1969 at a ceremony in Makati. After three awards ceremonies were held, the Awit Awards were discontinued in 1972. In 1988, PARI brought back the awards and today, the organization still handles these awards.
