Cheboksary (; russian: Чебокса́ры, r=Cheboksáry, p=tɕɪbɐˈksarɨ; cv, Шупашкар, ''Şupaşkar'') is the capital city of Chuvashia, Russia and a port on the Volga River. Geography The city is located in the Volga Upland region and stands on the shore of the Cheboksary Reservoir. Novocheboksarsk (russian: Новочебокса́рск; cv, Ҫӗнӗ Шупашкар, ''Śĕnĕ Şupaşkar'') is a city in the Chuvash Republic, Russia, located on the southern bank of the Volga River, about east of Cheboksary, the capital of the republic. Nikolai Yakovlevich Yut ( cv, Николай Ют, ''Nikolay Yut''; russian: Николай Яковлевич Ют; July 30, 1898 – March 27, 1967) was a Chuvash writer, folklorist and literary critic. He became a member of the USSR Union of Writers in 1934. He was the cousin of the Chuvash writer and literature critic Arcady Aris. Biography Nikolai Yut was born in the village of Siner (now in Alikovsky District, Chuvash Republic), (Russia). He graduated from the Simbirsk Chuvash teacher's school. Then went to study at the Communist University of the East, successfully passing a course graduate studies, Institute of History of Material Culture of the USSR. Arcady Ivanovich Aris ( cv, Аркадий Иванович Арис; January 29, 1901 – June 1, 1942) was a Chuvash writer and literary critic. He became a member of the USSR Union of Writers in 1934. He was a cousin of the Chuvash folklorist Nikolai Yut. Biography Arkady Zolotov was born in the village of Siner, Kazan Governorate, Russian Empire on January 29, 1901. After graduating from the Alikovskaya two-year school, in 1915 he entered the Simbirsk Chuvash school to study. Here he first became acquainted with the works of K. V. Ivanov, T. S. Semyonov (Tayar Timkki), N. V. Vasiliev (Shupussinni) and decided to devote himself to Chuvash literature. From the first days of Soviet rule Zolotov took an active part in public life.
