Union Electric Administration Building-Lakeside, also known as Willmore Lodge and Egan Lodge, is a historic administration building and retreat overlooking Lake of the Ozarks and located near Lakeside, Miller County, Missouri. It was built in 1930 by Union Electric Company during the Bagnell Dam project. It is a one- to two-story, "V"-shaped Adirondack rustic style log building. It has a stone veneer foundation and an intersecting gable, cedar shake roof. Lakeside is an inactive city in Miller County, Missouri, United States, located along the Osage River near the Bagnell Dam. The population was 37 at the 2000 census. As of the 2020 census, the population was 0, with one housing unit. History The city had developed at the time of construction of the Bagnell Dam and power plant, and many workers lived here. Few people were needed as residents to administer the complex, but Union Electric Administration Building-Lakeside was built in association with the dam project. This building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. A boundary increase for the property was recorded as an addition in 2011. Lake of the Ozarks is a reservoir created by impounding the Osage River in the northern part of the Ozarks in central Missouri. Parts of three smaller tributaries to the Osage are included in the impoundment: the Niangua River, Grandglaize Creek, and Gravois Creek. The lake has a surface area of and of shoreline. Bagnell Dam
Bagnell Dam (informally, the Osage Dam) impounds the Osage River in the U.S. state of Missouri, creating the Lake of the Ozarks. The dam is located in the city of Lakeside in Miller County, near the Camden-Miller County line. The tall concrete gravity dam was built by the Union Electric Company (now Ameren) to generate hydroelectric power at its Osage Powerplant. It is long, including a long spillway and a long power station. The facility with eight generators has a maximum capacity of 215 megawatts. The dam provides power to 42,000 homes. Adirondack Architecture refers to the rugged architectural style generally associated with the Great Camps within the Adirondack Mountains area in New York (state), New York. The builders of these camps used native building materials and sited their buildings within an irregular wooded landscape. These camps for the wealthy were built to provide a primitive, rustic appearance while avoiding the problems of in-shipping materials from elsewhere.
