Unibank (Azerbaijan)
Unibank is one of the largest private banks established in Azerbaijan in July 1992 under the name of MBank. In 2021, Unibank co-founded the first Azerbaijani neobank called Leobank. The bank was established on 15 October 2002 as a result of the merger of the two advanced private commercial banks of Azerbaijan MBank and PROMTEKHBANK. On October 15, 2002, after the merger of MBank with PROMTEXBANK, one of the leading banks of Azerbaijan, the bank's name was changed to Unibank. Leobank Leobank is the first Azerbaijani neobank built and launched on the basis of Unibank in 2021. Leobank was developed by the Fintech Farm company of Dmytro Dubilet together with Unibank in order to develop digital banking in Azerbaijan. Dmytro Oleksandrovych Dubilet ( ua, Дмитро Олександрович Дубілет; born 27 May 1985) is a Ukrainian banker, businessman, one of the founders of Monobank, the first mobile bank in Ukraine, and politician. On 29 August 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers. At the end of 2019, Dubilet left monobank due to the fact that he became a member of the government of Oleksiy Honcharuk, with whom he worked until March 2020. The manat ( ISO code: AZN; sign: ₼; abbreviation: m) is the currency of Azerbaijan. It is subdivided into 100 ''gapiks''. The first iteration of the currency happened in the times of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and its successor, the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, with the issues happening in 1919–1923. The currency underwent hyperinflation, and was eventually substituted by the Transcaucasian rouble, which, in its turn, was converted to the Soviet ruble.
