Undressed (Pansy Division Album)
''Undressed'' is the debut album by American queercore band Pansy Division, released in March 1993 on Lookout! Records. Singer-songwriter Jon Ginoli had previously released ''Undressed'' independently on cassette tape in 1991, featuring a different line-up with bassist Chris Bowe which was recorded in Champaign, Illinois. Nine of the tracks from these sessions were included on the Lookout! release of the album. ''Undressed'' received positive reviews from the independent music press. Ramones
The Ramones were an American punk rock band that formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens, in 1974. They are often cited as the first true punk rock group. Despite achieving a limited commercial appeal in the United States during their time together, the band saw more success in England and Brazil, and are today seen as highly influential. All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname "Ramone", although none of them were biologically related; they were inspired by Paul McCartney, who would check into hotels as "Paul Ramon". Rock 'n' Roll High School (song)
"Rock 'n' Roll High School" is a song by American punk rock band Ramones, from the soundtrack album ''Rock 'n' Roll High School''. The single did not chart in the U.S. but peaked at number 67 on the UK Singles Chart. There are three versions of the song. The first was recorded in early 1979 by Ed Stasium and was intended for the ''Rock 'n' Roll High School'' soundtrack. This version opens with an extended drum beat first, with Joey eventually singing the opening line, "Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock, Rock 'n' Roll High School." This is also the version they usually performed live. This version was not issued until the 1988 compilation album '' Ramones Mania''. The Byrds
The Byrds () were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1964. Jon Latimer Ginoli (born in Peoria, Illinois) is an American guitarist. He is best known as a member of the band Pansy Division, which was founded by Ginoli and Chris Freeman in 1991. Pansy Division is known as one of the founding examples of the queercore genre of punk rock. He is openly gay. Ginoli, with Pansy Division, was featured in the 1997 documentary film ''Queercore: A Punk-U-Mentary'' by Scott Treleaven; as an actor, in the 2002 comedy short ''Going West'' by Michael Mew; and in the 2008 film ''Pansy Division: Life in a Gay Rock Band'' by Michael Carmona. Queercore
Queercore (or homocore) is a cultural/social movement that began in the mid-1980s as an offshoot of the punk subculture and a music genre that comes from punk rock. It is distinguished by its discontent with society in general, and specifically society's disapproval of the LGBT community. Queercore expresses itself in a DIY style through magazines, music, writing and film.
