Phil Rosen
Philip E. Rosen (May 8, 1888 – October 22, 1951) was an American film director and cinematographer. He directed more than 140 films between 1915 and 1949. He was born in Marienburg, German Empire (now, Malbork, Poland), grew up in Machias, Maine, and died in Hollywood, California of a heart attack. He was one of the founders of the American Society of Cinematographers. Rosen was married to model and actress Joyzelle Joyner. Virginia Vance
Virginia Vance (July 1, 1902 - October 13, 1942) was a silent film actress in the United States. She married actor Bryant Washburn. Biography Vance was born in Chicago and raised in Toronto, Canada. She appeared in some 90 films including comedy shorts, serials, and features including in leading roles. She appeared in Cameo Comedies with Cliff Bowes. She is knocked over by a custard pie in the 1926 film ''His Private Life''. In 1929 she married and left filmmaking. She had a daughter. She died of heart issues and is buried at Chapel in the Pines cemetery in Los Angeles. Bryant Washburn
Franklin Bryant Washburn III (April 28, 1889 – April 30, 1963) was an American film actor who appeared in more than 370 films between 1911 and 1947. Washburn's parents were Franklin Bryant Washburn II and Metha Catherine Johnson Washburn. He attended Lake View High School in Chicago. Washburn's early acting experience came in stock theater. He debuted in film in 1911 with Essanay Studios. He quickly became a comedy star after appearing in films such as ''Skinner's Baby'' and ''Skinner's Dress Suit'' in 1917. His second marriage was to actress Virginia Vance. They had a child together. He died from a heart attack in Hollywood. His interment was located in Culver City, California's Holy Cross Cemetery. His son, Bryant Washburn, Jr. (1915–1960), was also an actor, a major in the US Air Force Reserve, served during World War II and Korea, and predeceased him. Sterling Pictures
Sterling Pictures was a film company headed by Henry Ginsberg during the silent film era. Phil Rosen directed many of Sterling's films. H. R. Ebenstein was the manager of sales. In July 1927, when the studio got rid of their foreign broker system and implemented their own foreign sales, Briskin was put in charge, becoming head of their foreign department. In August 1928, Briskin was named vice president of Sterling and given control over all of the company's operations. Arthur F. Beck was the company's president. He married actress and screenwriter Leah Baird. Buddy Messinger
Buddy Messinger (born Melvin Joseph Messinger; 26 October 1907 – 25 October 1965) was an American actor who was cast in substantial roles in dozens of films during the silent film era. He began his career as a jovial chubby child actor. With the advent of sound films he was relegated mostly to bit parts. His sister Gertrude Messinger was also a child actor. They appeared in several Fox fairytale movies for children. She transitioned to speaking roles in B-movies during the 1930s continuing her career into the 1950s. He featured in a series of "Edgar" films including ''Edgar's Sunday Courtship'', ''Edgar Camps Out'', and ''Edgar's Little Saw'' in 1920 and 1921. He appeared in a series of comedy films for Century Film Corporation.
