Under The Covers, Vol. 1
''Under the Covers, Vol. 1'' is the first collaboration between alternative rock artist Matthew Sweet and Bangles singer/guitarist Susanna Hoffs. Released by Shout! Factory in 2006, the album contains 15 cover versions of songs from the 1960s and 1970s. The album was a result of their mutual love for songwriting from the 1960s.NPR Pop Music, June 2006 Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs decided to record an album together in dedication of that era consisting of only cover versions. ''Under the Covers'' is the fourth studio album by American comedy music, comedy duo Ninja Sex Party, and their first cover album. The concept for the album and title were revealed on July 28, 2015, and the album released on March 4, 2016. Unlike their previous albums, ''Under the Covers'' is composed only of Cover version, covers of songs from the 1970s and 1980s and strays from the duo's traditional comedic style. It is their first album released with Tupper Ware Remix Party as their backup band; NSP keyboardist Brian Wecht previously performed all instruments on the band's albums. On February 23, 2016, a music video was released for their cover of "Take On Me"; the video for their cover of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" was released one week later, on March 1, 2016. Stone Poneys
Stone Poneys (also The Stone Poneys, Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys, and The Stone Poneys With Linda Ronstadt) were a folk rock Trio (music), trio formed in Los Angeles, consisting of Linda Ronstadt on singing, vocals, Bobby Kimmel on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Kenny Edwards on lead guitar. Their recordings include Ronstadt's first hit song, a cover song, cover of Michael Nesmith, Mike Nesmith's "Different Drum". Different Drum
"Different Drum" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Michael Nesmith in 1964. It was first recorded by the northern Bluegrass music, bluegrass band The Greenbriar Boys and included on their 1966 album ''Better Late than Never!'' Nesmith offered it to the Monkees, but the producers of the TV show, who had wide control over the group's musical output early on, turned him down (though Nesmith did perform a short comic version of the song in an episode of ''The Monkees''). The song became popular in 1967 when it was recorded by the Stone Poneys featuring Linda Ronstadt, who took their version of "Different Drum" to No. 12 on the ''Cash Box'' Top 100, No. 13 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart, and No. 16 in ''Record World'' magazine. "The Warmth of the Sun" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love for the American rock band The Beach Boys. It was released on their 1964 album ''Shut Down Volume 2'' and as the B-side of the " Dance, Dance, Dance" single, which charted at number eight in the United States and number twenty four in the United Kingdom. Brian Wilson produced the song, and the rest of the album. Information Wilson and Love began composing the song on November 22, 1963, the day of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, although the two co-authors give different accounts of the timing and whether it was begun before or after the killing. Love (band)
Love is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965. Led by frontman and primary songwriter Arthur Lee, they were one of the first racially diverse American rock bands. Their sound incorporated an eclectic range of styles including garage, folk-rock, blues, jazz, and psychedelia. While finding only modest success on the music charts, peaking in 1966 with their Top 40 hit "7 and 7 Is", Love would come to be praised by critics as their third album, ''Forever Changes'' (1967), became generally regarded as one of the best albums of the 1960s. The band's classic lineup is considered to consist of frontman Lee, guitarist/singer Bryan MacLean, bassist Ken Forssi, guitarist Johnny Echols, and drummer Alban "Snoopy" Pfisterer. "Alone Again Or" is a song originally recorded in 1967 by the rock group Love and written by band member Bryan MacLean. Crazy Horse is an American rock band best known for their association with Neil Young. "Cinnamon Girl" is a song by Neil Young. It debuted on the 1969 album ''Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'', which was also Young's first album with backing band Crazy Horse. Songwriting Music Like two other songs from ''Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'', "Cowgirl in the Sand" and " Down by the River", Young wrote "Cinnamon Girl" while he was suffering from the flu with a high fever at his home in Topanga, California. Fairport Convention are an English folk rock band, formed in 1967 by guitarists Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol, bassist Ashley Hutchings and drummer Shaun Frater (with Frater replaced by Martin Lamble after their first gig.)
