Under Two Jags
''Under Two Jags'' is a 1923 American silent comedy film featuring Stan Laurel. The title spoofs the film '' Under Two Flags'' (1922). Plot The film is set in the city of Scorching Sands in the Desert of Dhumbell. Stan is the only westerner on the street until he enters a saloon which has soldiers watching a girl in uniform (and wearing a fez) dancing on a table. Stan blows the foam off his beer and it hits the officer in the face. He beckons Stan over. He is about to leave when the girl says Stop. He flips a coin and decides to join the soldiers. Stan is then in uniform chatting with the girl. A posh lady stops to speak to him. Stan drops a bottle of beer and the spray soaks everyone. On parade Stan is ten seconds behind the rest and struggles to find a place in the row. The men form a ladder of rifles and he climbs a wall. George Jeske
George Washington Jeske (February 22, 1891 – October 28, 1951) was an American screenwriter, director, and actor. Career Jeske was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1891. He was one of the original Keystone Kops for Mack Sennett. He wrote for more than 50 films between 1926 and 1946, including the Torchy film series with Ray Cooke in the title role. William Gillespie (24 January 1894 – 23 June 1938) was a Scottish actor. Biography Gillespie started in Hollywood films from the silent era. He played in about 180 films between 1915 and 1939, although his appearances were often uncredited. Gillespie frequently appeared in Hal Roach comedies from 1917, usually as stuffy official or manager. He supported such "slapstick comedians" as Charlie Chaplin, Charley Chase, Our Gang, and Laurel and Hardy, but was most prolific supporting Harold Lloyd in 60 films.
