Under One Roof (album)
''Under One Roof'' is the third live album by Australian rock group Hunters & Collectors, released on 11 November 1998. It was recorded on 13 March 1998 at one of the band's last performances of their Juggernaut Say Goodbye Tour at the Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney. The group also issued a video album of the same name on VHS in 1998, which was directed by Victoria Garrett and Charlie Singer. A DVD of this performance was subsequently released on 24 November 2003 with a surround sound audio mix. To coincide with the DVD release the CD was re-issued on 1 December 2003. The DVD reached No. 31 on the ARIA DVD Charts and was subsequently certified Gold. On 3 June 2011 the album was reissued with a different title, ''Hunters & Collectors – Greatest Hits Live'', and different artwork. Hunters & Collectors
Hunters & Collectors are an Australian rock band formed in 1981. Fronted by founding mainstay, singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Seymour, they developed a blend of Pub rock (Australia), pub rock and funk, art-funk. Other mainstays are John Archer on bass guitar, Doug Falconer on drums and percussion. Soon after forming they were joined by Jack Howard on trumpet and keyboards, Jeremy Smith (Australian musician), Jeremy Smith on French horn, guitars and keyboards, and Michael Waters on trombone and keyboards. Also acknowledged as a founder was audio engineering, engineer and art director, art designer Robert Miles. Joining in 1988, Barry Palmer (musician), Barry Palmer, on lead guitar, remained until they disbanded in 1998. The group reformed in 2013 with the 1998 line-up. INXS
INXS (a word play, phonetic play on "in excess") were an Australian Rock music, rock band, formed as The Farriss Brothers in 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales. The band's founding members were bassist Garry Gary Beers, main composer and keyboardist Andrew Farriss, drummer Jon Farriss, guitarist Tim Farriss, lead singer and main lyricist Michael Hutchence, and guitarist and saxophonist Kirk Pengilly. For 20 years, INXS was fronted by Hutchence, whose magnetic stage presence made him the focal point of the band. The Australian Rock Database was a website with a searchable online database that listed details of Australian rock music artists, albums, bands, producers and record labels. It was established in 2000 by Swedish national Magnus Holmgren, who had developed an interest in Australian music when visiting as an exchange student. Information for the database entries was initially gleaned from Chris Spencer, Zbig Nowara and Paul McHenry's ''Who's Who of Australian Rock'' (3rd ed, 1993) and Ian McFarlane's ''Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' (1999). George Allen & Unwin was a British publishing company formed in 1911 when Sir Stanley Unwin purchased a controlling interest in George Allen & Co. It went on to become one of the leading publishers of the twentieth century and to establish an Australian subsidiary in 1976. In 1990, Allen & Unwin was sold to HarperCollins and the Australian branch was the subject of a management buy-out. ''The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' or ''Rock and Pop'' by Australian music journalist Ian McFarlane is a guide to Australian popular music from the 1950s to the late 1990s. The book has a similar title to the 1978 work by Noel McGrath, ''Australian Encyclopaedia of Rock and Pop'', but is not otherwise related. Publishers, Allen & Unwin described McFarlane's encyclopedia as containing over 870 entries and an "essential reference to the bands and artists who molded the shape of Australian popular music ..in an A-to-Z encyclopedia format complete with biographical and historical details. Each entry also includes listings of original band lineups and subsequent changes, record releases, career highlights, and cross-references with related bands and artists." Holy Grail (Hunters & Collectors Song)
"Holy Grail" is a song performed by the Australian band Hunters & Collectors on their 1992 album ''Cut''. With lyrics referring to popular Holy Grail mythology, the song is an anthemic single inspired by Napoleon's march to Russia in 1812, but also referencing the Hunters and Collectors' flagging attempts to "crack" the American market. Singer Mark Seymour said, "With the lyrics, I'd been reading a Jeanette Winterson novel, "The Passion". It was a story about Napoleon's chef when he invaded Russia.
