"Under Cover of Darkness" is a song by American Rock music, rock band The Strokes. The single served as the lead single for their fourth studio album, ''Angles (The Strokes album), Angles'', and was released online on February 9, 2011 as a free music download, download for 48 hours exclusively. It was the first single release from the band in five years, following the release of "You Only Live Once (song), You Only Live Once" in 2006. "Under Cover of Darkness" received positive reviews, managing to reach BBC Radio 1's A Playlist; before going on to debut at number 47 on the UK Singles Chart, respective chart. The Strokes
The Strokes are an American rock band from New York City. Formed in 1998, the band is composed of lead singer and songwriter Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti. They were a leading group of the early-2000s indie rock revival. Gus Oberg
Gus Oberg is a Swedish music producer and recording engineer. He is best known as the longtime engineer and a producer of American rock band The Strokes, for whom he has worked since 2009. Oberg is also a close collaborator of Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. and has worked on every one of his solo records. Since the late 2000s, Oberg has produced numerous indie rock albums and has often worked with Hammond Jr. or Johnny T Yerington as a producing partner. Oberg was awarded a Grammy Award in 2006 for his engineering work. Career Oberg moved from his native Sweden to New York City in 1997 to pursue audio engineering. His career took off in the early 2000s as an engineer at New York's Loho Studio. "Last Nite" is a song by American rock band the Strokes. It was released on October 23, 2001, as the second single from their debut album, ''Is This It'' (2001). It was a moderate hit for the group on the UK Singles Chart in 2001. Background The track was produced by Gordon Raphael and was issued on RCA Records with the song " When It Started" as the B-side. The song's opening guitar riff and overall structure is based on " American Girl" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. In a 2006 interview with ''Rolling Stone'', Petty commented, "The Strokes took 'American Girl' or 'Last Nite' there was an interview that took place with them where they actually admitted it. The Loew's Jersey Theatre is a theater in Jersey City, New Jersey. Opened in 1929, it was one of the five Loew's Wonder Theatres, a series of flagship Loew's movie palaces in the New York City area. It was designed by the architectural firm of Rapp and Rapp in a Baroque/Rococo style. Tri-plexed in 1974, and then closed in 1986, it was dark for years.
