''Undead Unplugged'' is the first acoustic album by horror punk musician Wednesday 13. It features mainly acoustic versions of songs from his solo career, with one original track entitled "Undead". The album also features acoustic versions of Murderdolls and Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13 songs, both being bands Wednesday had fronted in the past. Background Before the release of the album, Wednesday 13 released a few acoustic versions of songs from '' Bloodwork'' and ''Spook and Destroy'' EPs with an acoustic version of "Curse of Me" first appearing on ''Spook and Destroy''. The album was released shortly after "The Undead Unplugged UK Tour" in May 2014. Joseph Michael Poole (born August 12, 1976), better known by his stage name Wednesday 13, is an American singer and musician. Apart from his solo career, he was the frontman of the horror punk/ heavy metal band Murderdolls and has also played in several other bands, including Maniac Spider Trash, Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13, Bourbon Crow, and Gunfire 76. Career Psycho Opera and Maniac Spider Trash Poole's musical career began in 1992 when he played guitar in the band Mizery, which later became Psycho Opera, with Abby Normal (guitar), Jeff Washam (drums), Michael Patrick (bass guitar) and Todd Cage (lead vocals). Poole left the band to form Maniac Spider Trash as lead vocalist, with Normal (guitar) and Patrick (bass guitar), joined by Sicko Zero on drums. Poole fronted the band from 1992 to 1996. ''Fang Bang'' is the second studio album by American horror punk musician Wednesday 13. It was released by Rykodisc on August 29, 2006, in Europe, and was later released worldwide on September 12, 2006. Each song on the album is known to have been inspired by a specific piece of horror fiction, such as '' An American Werewolf in London'', ''Halloween'' and ''Friday the 13th''. ''Fang Bang'' contains twelve standard tracks, as well as a bonus track exclusive to a particular region. The North American release includes a thirteenth track, a Roky Erickson cover of "Burn the Flames". The thirteenth track on the European release is a Motörhead cover of " R.A.M.O.N.E.S.". Roman Surman is an American musician and the current lead guitarist for Wednesday 13's horror punk solo band. Surman was also a guitarist for Gunfire 76, Bourbon Crow and the second incarnation of Murderdolls, all bands fronted by Wednesday 13. Career history Surman's long-standing partnership with Wednesday 13 began with Surman becoming a guitar-tech for his solo band. He first performed as a touring guitarist in Bourbon Crow, an Outlaw country side project he had put together in 2006. Surman was assistant editor and music composer for a short video release by Wednesday 13 called "Weirdo A-Go-Go" in 2008. In 2009 Wednesday 13 put together another side project, a glam metal band called Gunfire 76, releasing one album "Casualties and Tragedies" in October 2009. ''Bloodwork'' is the first EP by American horror punk musician Wednesday 13 The band struggled to come to a conclusion as to whether the EP would receive a CD release or if it would stay download only for the time being. On June 4, 2008, a decision was reached and was posted on the band's Myspace blog "The Bloodwork EP, which is currently available for download on Itunes and Amazon, will be available for sale as a physical cd during the U.S. tour starting on July 1, 2008." Bloodwork was sold during the US and UK 2008 tours, and though once stated to be a tour exclusive, the EP was officially released online on January 22, 2009. Horror Punk
Horror punk is a music genre that mixes punk rock and 1950s-influenced doo-wop and rockabilly sounds with morbid and violent imagery and lyrics which are often influenced by horror films and science fiction B-movies. The genre was pioneered by the Misfits in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Subsequent bands formed in the Misfits' wake like Mourning Noise, the Undead and Samhain, solidifying horror punk's first wave. In the late 1990s and early 2000s the genre gained attention through the reunion of the Misfits and success of groups like AFI, Son of Sam and the Murderdolls. This popularity continued to the modern day with Blitzkid, Calabrese and Creeper. Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13
Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13 was an American horror punk band from North Carolina. The band was formed in 1996 by Wednesday 13, who recruited friends and former Maniac Spider Trash bandmates Seaweed and Sicko Zero. The band's history is riddled with a 'revolving door' lineup with 13 the only member to have never been replaced. After breaking up in 2001 when Wednesday 13 left to perform vocals with the Murderdolls, the band reformed for a brief reunion in 2005, releasing a box set containing their entire library of recordings except for the track "Look Mom I Killed A Chicken" because Wednesday 13's master copy was "destroyed beyond repair". Murderdolls
Murderdolls was an American rock music, rock band founded during 2002 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood, California. The band line-up consisted of the late Joey Jordison, Wednesday 13 , Acey Slade, Eric Griffin, Tripp Eisen and the late Ben Graves. The band released two albums, the first in the form of ''Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls'' which was released in 2002. The band had limited initial success in the United States, though their album and singles charted extremely well in the United Kingdom and around the same time they picked up a strong following in Japan.
