Unbroadcastable Radio Show
The Unbroadcastable Radio Show was a monthly live comedy show performed at the Comedy Store, Manchester. The show took the format of the recording of a radio show, featuring topical comedy written up to (and occasionally during) the day of performance. The show has been nominated for "Best Writing" and "Best Touring Show" at the North West Comedy Awards. It has also been featured in the Liverpool and Ludlow Comedy Festivals. The show is currently in development with the BBC comedy unit. John Warburton and Toby Hadoke performed on BBC Radio 4's 28 Acts in 28 Minutes doing an Unbroadcastable sketch. The last Unbroadcastable Radio Show was performed on 21 June 2009. It featured Toby, Peter, Helen and Dominic. In 2021 Toby, Helen, Peter, Dominic, John and Alfie performed a one off live online special featuring new and old sketches. City Life Comedian Of The Year
The City Life Comedian of the Year competition is held annually in Manchester, and sponsored by the '' City Life'' magazine. The competition began in 1990, and has become one of the most prestigious comedy awards in the North West of England, mostly based on the subsequent success of many of its entrants and winners. The competition is open to all, and early heats often have a broad mix of talent and ability. From each heat, the entrants are whittled down to eight finalists. In the first year, the competition was won by Caroline Aherne, who went on to create '' Mrs Merton'' and '' The Royle Family'' and in subsequent years all three writers of the successful sitcom '' Phoenix Nights'' - Peter Kay, Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice - won the competition. Happy Mondays
Happy Mondays are an English rock band formed in Salford in 1980. The original line-up was Shaun Ryder (vocals), his brother Paul Ryder ( bass), Gary Whelan (drums), Paul Davis (keyboard), and Mark Day (guitar). Mark "Bez" Berry later joined the band onstage as a dancer/percussionist. Rowetta joined as a second vocalist in 1990. They were initially signed to Tony Wilson's Factory Records label. The group's work bridged the Manchester independent rock music of the 1980s and the emerging UK rave scene, drawing influence from funk, house, and psychedelia to pioneer the Madchester sound. The ''Sunday Sport'' is a British tabloid newspaper that was founded by David Sullivan in 1986. It mainly publishes images of topless female glamour models, and is well known for publishing sensationalized, fictionalized, and satirical content, alongside celebrity gossip and sports coverage. It has changed from including legitimate journalism throughout its history. A sister title, the ''Daily Sport'', was published from 1991 to 2011, when it ceased publication and went online-only, under separate ownership. Currently, the tabloid publishes three times a week as the Sunday Sport (Sundays), the Midweek Sport (Wednesdays), and the Weekend Sport (Fridays). Alfie Joey
Alfie Joey is a writer, comic, actor, impressionist, singer, presenter, and artist/cartoonist. He hosted the flagship breakfast show on BBC Radio Newcastle from 2009, until his last show on 28 October 2022. He was nominated Best Compère at the 2006 Chortle Awards. Joey returned to Edinburgh in 2011 with his new one man comedy musical, 'Monopolise' which did a short tour of North East theatres and the Liverpool comedy festival.
