Ultimul Cartuș
''Ultimul cartuș'' (''The Last Cartridge'', ''The Last Bullet'') is a 1973 Romanian crime film directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu. It is about commissioner Roman, portrayed by Ilarion Ciobanu, who is trying to revenge his partner's death. Plot Mihai Roman, the partner of ex-commissioner Miclovan, tries hard to put Miclovan's assassin, Semanca, portrayed by George Constantin, behind bars. Because the court didn't have enough evidence, Semanca is set free. In his desperate efforts to imprison Semanca, Mihai Roman receives another mission and another partner at the same time. The new partner, Oarca, seems to be an ex-servant who is good at everything, moreover he is one of the best at driving on serpentines. Sergiu Nicolaescu
Sergiu Florin Nicolaescu (; 13 April 1930 – 3 January 2013) was a Romanian film director, actor and politician. He was best known for his historical films, such as '' Mihai Viteazul'' (1970, released in English both under the equivalent title ''Michael the Brave'' and also as ''The Last Crusade''), ''Dacii'' (1966, ''Les Guerriers''), ''Războiul Independenței'' (1977, ''War of Independence''), as well as for his series of thrillers that take place in the interwar Kingdom of Romania, such as '' Un comisar acuză'' (1973, ''A Police Inspector Calls''). Joanna Pacuła starred in his film ''Ultima noapte de dragoste'' (''The Last Night of Love'') in 1980 before eventually emigrating to the United States, where he went on to a very successful career. Ion Besoiu
Ion Besoiu (; 11 March 1931 – 18 January 2017) was a Romanian actor. Biography He was born in Sibiu in 1931 and graduated the city's Theater and Music Academy. After making his debut in 1957, he played for 16 years at the Radu Stanca National Theatre in Sibiu. He then moved to Bucharest, where he played at the Bulandra Theatre. He later served for 12 years as director of this well-known theatre. Besoiu appeared in some of the most important Romanian films from the Communist period: "Furtuna", "Neamul Șoimăreștilor", "Haiducii", "Răscoala", " Mihai Viteazul", "Ciprian Porumbescu", "Păcală", "Blestemul pământului, blestemul iubirii", "Ultima noapte de dragoste", "Lumini și umbre", "Ce neagră e mama", and "Toate pânzele sus!". He died at Fundeni Hospital in Bucharest in 2017; he is buried at the city's Bellu Cemetery. Ernest Maftei
Ernest Maftei (; 6 March 1920 – 19 October 2006) was a Romanian film actor. He appeared in more than seventy films from 1953 to 2006. Biography Born in Prăjești, Bacău County, he attended high school in Bacău, and, at age 17, he joined the youth branch of the Iron Guard. For his militant activities, he was detained in 1938 for 5 months at a correctional facility in Vaslui, and later at prisons in Galați, Jilava, and Văcărești. In 1944 he graduated the Academy of Music and Dramatic Art of Iași. During the early Communist regime he was arrested and spent more time in prison before being released after the intervention of some Jews he helped. Mitzura Domnica Arghezi (also spelled Mițura, born Domnica Theodorescu; 10 December 1924 – 27 October 2015) was a Romanian actress, visual artist and politician, also active as a ballerina, book editor, and museum curator. She was the daughter of poet-journalist Tudor Arghezi, the sister of writer Baruțu T. Arghezi, as well as the half-sister of art photographer Eli Lotar. Her childhood was spent at ''Mărțișor'', her father's estate in Bucharest, and became the inspiration for his children's books, which a grown-up Mitzura illustrated. Sebastian Papaiani (; 25 August 1936 – 27 September 2016) was a Romanian film and television actor. He was born in Pitești; his father was of Greek origin. He graduated from the Theatrical Arts and Cinematography Institute in 1960, debuting in the Geo Saizescu comedy ''Un surâs în plină vară'' (1963). He has a star on the Walk of Fame Bucharest. In December 2002 he was awarded by then-President Ion Iliescu the National Order of Faithful Service, Knight rank.
