Ulster University at Jordanstown Football Club (also known as UUJ) is a Northern Irish, intermediate football club playing in Division 1A of the Northern Amateur Football League. It is affiliated with the Ulster University at Jordanstown. The club was founded as part of ''Ulster Polytechnic'' in 1972 and entered the Irish League B Division. The club became UUJ with the amalgamation of the Polytechnic and the New University of Ulster as the University of Ulster in 1984. In 1991, it resigned from the B Division and dropped into the Amateur League. In line with the University's rebrand in October 2014, the club updated its name. History Banned from Collingwood On Sunday, 22 February 2015, UU Jordanstown were due to play UCD in the first round of the Collingwood Cup. However on Friday, 19 February, just two days earlier, the Irish Universities Football Union barred them from the competition. Nortel Football Club are a Northern Irish football club, based in Monkstown, Newtownabbey and playing latterly in the Premier Division of the Northern Amateur Football League (NAFL). Collingwood Plate
The Collingwood Cup is an association football cup competition featuring university teams from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is organised by the Irish Universities Football Union, and is the oldest surviving all Ireland association football competition. University College Dublin were the inaugural winners, and later became the cup's most successful team. The competition has been played almost annually since 1914, taking a break during the First World War/Irish War of Independence era and again in 1932 and 1933 due to a dispute between the Irish Football Association and the Football Association of Ireland. In 2014 the Collingwood Cup celebrated its centenary with a dinner that featured Martin O'Neill as a guest speaker. The 2014 final was broadcast live on Setanta Sports and the tournament was sponsored by Eircom. Newtownabbey ( ) is a large settlement in North Belfast in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is separated from the rest of the city by Cavehill and Fortwilliam golf course. It surrounds Carnmoney Hill, and was formed from the merging of several small villages including Whiteabbey, Glengormley and Carnmoney.
