Ulrik Fredrik De Cicignon
Ulrik Frederik de Cicignon (1698 – 8 June 1772) was a Norwegian military officer. He is best known for his part in ''Strilekrigen'', an 18th-century farmer's rebellion, in Bergen. Early life He was probably born at Akershus Fortress in Christiania (now Oslo, Norway). He was the son of Major General Frederik Christoph von Cicignon (-1719) and Karen Hausmann (1682-1744). He was also the grandson of the Luxembourg-born military officer and engineer, Johan Caspar von Cicignon (1625-1696). He studied at the Académie des Chevaliers in Strasbourg and the Académie de Lorraine in Nancy, France. Career In 1718, he was appointed First Lieutenant within the Søndenfjeldske Gevorbne Infantry Regiment. He became captain in 1720 and then rose through the ranks until 1746 when he was made Colonel and head of the 2nd Vesterlenske National Infantry Regiment. Akershus Fortress
Akershus Fortress ( no, Akershus Festning, ) or Akershus Castle ( no, Akershus slott ) is a medieval castle in the Norwegian capital Oslo that was built to protect and provide a royal residence for the city. Since the Middle Ages the fortress has been the namesake and centre of the main fief and later main county of Akershus, which was originally one of Norway's four main regions and which included most of Eastern Norway. The fortress itself was located within the Akershus main county until 1919, and also within the smaller Akershus sub county until 1842. The castle has also been used as a military base, a prison and is currently the temporary office of the Prime minister of Norway. The diocesan governor of Bergen in Norway was a government agency of the Kingdom of Norway. The title was before 1919, and in 1919 all stiftamt were abolished in favor of equal counties ( no, fylker). The (principal county) of ''Bergenhus'' (later simplified to ''Bergen stiftamt'') was established in 1662 by the king. It was originally made up of several subordinate counties: Nordlandenes, Sunnmøre, Søndre Bergenhus, and Nordre Bergenhus. Bergenhus stiftamt was led by a ''stiftamtmann'' and the subordinate counties were led by an ''amtmann''. The seat of the stiftamt was the city of Bergen. Nordhordland
Nordhordland is a traditional district in the western part of Norway. The district consists of the northern portion of the old Hordaland county (now in Vestland county), north of the city of Bergen. It includes the municipalities Alver, Austrheim, Fedje, Masfjorden, Modalen, Osterøy, and Vaksdal. The district roughly corresponds to the Nordhordland prosti, a Church of Norway deanery and also to the municipalities that fall under the Nordhordland District Court.
