Ulrich Hesse-Lichtenberger
Ulrich "Uli" Hesse, also ~ Hesse-Lichtenberger, (born 1966 in Dortmund) is a German author, journalist and editor. Life and work He graduated from Bochum University in 1994, having written his M.A. thesis about baseball. He has covered popular music for fanzines and magazines, such as the German edition of Rolling Stone, but primarily writes about sports, predominantly (association) football. Hesse has published articles in newspapers and magazines in a variety of countries, including England, United States, Sweden, Japan and Israel, and was the editor of the German-language edition of "Champions", the official UEFA Champions League magazine, for which he worked as a contributing editor until the publication's demise in 2015. Between 2002 and 2016, he was a regular columnist for ESPN FC (formerly ESPNsoccernet), which has been called the world's most popular football website. ESPN FC (formerly ESPN SoccerNet) is a website and a U.S. television studio program covering soccer that is broadcast daily over the streaming service ESPN+. ESPN FC's origin was a website owned by ESPN Inc. Originally established in 1995 as SoccerNet, the website was acquired by ESPN in 1999. The domain ESPNFC.com now redirects to soccer news coverage on ESPN.com. History Originally titled SoccerNet, the website was established by Greg Hadfield and his then-teenage son Tom in 1995, initially providing live score updates, tables and news articles. The Heartbreakers
The Heartbreakers, sometimes referred to as Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers, were an American punk rock band formed in New York City in 1975. The band spearheaded the first wave of punk rock. History Johnny Thunders (vocals/guitar) and Jerry Nolan (drums) gained fame in the pioneering proto-punk band the New York Dolls. By early 1975, the Dolls were disintegrating amid poor record sales and tensions within the band, and Thunders and Nolan quit during a tour of Florida in March 1975. Coincidentally, that same week Richard Hell (vocals/bass) left Television. After returning to New York, Thunders and Nolan invited Hell to join their new band, and Hell agreed. As Hell said, "I was fed up with Television because it was getting so pretentious...so I thought, this is perfect - we'll make a really good rock & roll band that's dealing with interesting subjects." The Sports Book Awards (previously National Sporting Club Book Awards then Telegraph Sports Book Awards) is a British literary award for sports writing. It was first awarded in 2003 as part of the National Sporting Club. Awards are presented in multiple categories. Each category is judged by one of: sports writers and broadcasters, retailers and enthusiasts.
