Ukrainian Basketball Federation
The Basketball Federation of Ukraine ( uk, Федерація баскетболу України) also known as FBU is the governing body of basketball in Ukraine. It was founded and joined FIBA in 1992, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The federation is headquartered in Kyiv. The Basketball Federation of Ukraine operates the Ukraine men's national team and Ukraine women's national team. They organize national competitions in Ukraine, for both the men's and women's senior teams and also the youth national basketball teams. The top professional league in Ukraine is the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague. 3x3 basketball (pronounced ''three-ex-three'') is a variation of basketball played three-a-side, with one backboard and in a half-court setup. According to an ESSEC Business School study commissioned by the International Olympic Committee, 3x3 is the largest urban team sport in the world. This basketball game format is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, the sport's governing body. Its primary competition is an annual FIBA 3X3 World Tour, comprising a series of Masters and one Final tournament, and awarding six-figure prize money in US dollars. The FIBA 3x3 World Cups for men and women are the highest tournaments for national 3x3 teams. The 3x3 format has been adopted for both the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2022 Commonwealth Games. 2016 FIBA Europe 3x3 Championships
The 2016 FIBA Europe 3x3 Championships was the second edition of the European 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament started on 25 June 2016 with the first of the three qualifying tournaments and its final tournament was played in the AFI Cotroceni shopping mall in Bucharest, Romania between 2 and 4 September 2016. In the men's tournament, Slovenia won their first European championship title by beating Serbia in the final. Hungary also won their first European championship title in the women's tournament, by beating Romania in the final. Qualification The qualification events took place in the Summer of 2016. 2014 FIBA Europe 3x3 Championships
The 2014 FIBA Europe 3x3 Championships, hosted at the University Square in Bucharest, Romania, was the inaugural European 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament was held from 5 to 7 September 2014. In the final of the men's tournament, host Romania beat Slovenia to win their first European championship title. In the final of the women's tournament, Russia also beat Slovenia to win their first European championship title. Slovenia finished in second place in both the men's and women's tournaments. The 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, hosted by the Philippines, was an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament ran between 8 and 12 June 2018 in Bocaue, Bulacan, just north of Manila. It is co-organized by FIBA. Background It was announced on 5 December 2017 that the tournament would be held at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, which is just north of Metro Manila. Since the final would be held on Philippine Independence Day, cultural events were also planned alongside the tournament proper. The Philippine Arena will also be used for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The tournament was officially launched on 18 January 2018 at the Bonifacio High Street in Taguig. The 2016 FIBA 3x3 World Championships, hosted by China, was an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The FIBA 3x3 World Cup is a 3x3 basketball tournament for national teams organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The debut of the tournament then named as the FIBA 3x3 World Championship was held in August 2012 in Athens, Greece. The current champions are Serbia in the men's division and France in the women's division. There are two events in the tournament; one for men and another for women. The FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup had its inaugural tournament in 2014 in Bucharest, Romania. There are two events in the championship, one men's event and one women's event. Each team has four players (three on court and one on the bench).
