Tin Ujević
Augustin Josip "Tin" Ujević (; 5 July 1891 – 12 November 1955) was a Croatian poet, considered by many to be the greatest poet in 20th century Croatian literature. From 1921, he ceased to sign his name as Augustin, thereafter using the signature Tin Ujević. Biography Ujević was born in Vrgorac, a small town in the Dalmatian hinterland, and attended school in Imotski, Makarska, Split and Zagreb. He completed Classical Gymnasium in Split, and in Zagreb he studied Croatian language and literature, classical Philology, Philosophy, and Aesthetics. In 1909, while studying literature, his first sonnet "''Za novim vidicima''" (Towards New Horizons) appeared in the journal ''Mlada Hrvatska'' (Young Croatia). After the assassination attempts on the ban Slavko Cuvaj in 1912, Ujević became active in the Nationalist youth movement and was repeatedly imprisoned. On the eve of the First World War, he lived briefly in Dubrovnik, Šibenik, Zadar, Rijeka and for a longer time in Split. ...

Marija Ujević-Galetović
Marija Ujević Galetović (20 October 1933 – 13 March 2023) was a Croatian sculptor and painter. She lived and worked in Zagreb. Work and artistic career Ujević-Galetović's work included portraits and figures. She studied sculpture at the Central School of Art and Design in London. Since 1987 she had been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Zagreb, where she was appointed full professor in 1995. She was also an active member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She was the creator of numerous outdoor and indoor public sculptures located in places such as Virovitica, Vrsar, Zagreb, Marija Bistrica, Sinj, Slavonski Brod, Krk, Cres, Rijeka, Osijek, Labin, Visoko, Bihać, and Novi Sad. MF ''Tin Ujević'' is a vehicle and passenger cruiseferry owned and operated by Jadrolinija, the Croatian state-owned ferry company. It was built in September 2002 at the Kanellos Bros shipyard in Athens, Greece. Mate Ujević
Mate Ujević (13 July 1901 – 6 January 1967) was a Croatian poet and encyclopedist. Life Ujević was born in Krivodol (part of Podbablje near Imotski) in the Kingdom of Dalmatia (present-day Croatia). He received his secondary education in Sinj and Split and studied literature in Zagreb. He bachelored in Ljubljana and finished his doctoral dissertation on poet Jovan Hranilović in Zagreb. In 1941 he was named the director of the institute in charge of the Croatian Encyclopedia, on which he worked until May 1945. During World War II, Ujević rescued Manko Berman, a Jewish encyclopedist and close friend, as well as two Jewish sisters from being deported to the Jasenovac concentration camp. As a result of these actions, Yad Vashem later honored him as one of the Righteous among the Nations. In 1950 he began work with the Yugoslav Lexicographical Institute (today's Miroslav Krleža Lexicographical Institute) where he remained until his retirement in 1965. He died in Zag ...
