Uhwudong
Eowudong or Uhwudong (어우동, 於宇同; 1440 - 18 October 1480), also known as Eoeuludong (어을우동, 於乙宇同), née Park (박, 朴), was a Korean dancer, writer, artist, and poet from a noble family in the Joseon Dynasty of the 15th century. Most of her work has not been preserved. Life Born as Park Gu-ma (박구마, 朴丘麻), Uhwudong was from was a noble family of the Joseon Dynasty. She married Yi Dong, prince Taegang (태강수 이동, 泰江守 李仝), the grandson of King Taejong. She was forced to divorce him on account of adultery charges and subsequently she became an active poet, writer, artist, and dancer. ''Yohwa Eoludong'' ( 요화 어을우동) is a 1987 South Korean film about the incredible life of Joseon-era kisaeng writer, artist and poet Uhwudong directed by Kim Gi-hyun and starring Kim Muh-hee. Plot summary The story follows Eoludong (Uhwudong), a gisaeng, poet, writer, and artist who lived in 15th century Korea. Princess Yi Gu-ji (; ? - 7 March 1489) was a Joseon Dynasty princess, writer, artist, and poet. She was forced to commit suicide after it was discovered that she had cohabited with a slave after being widowed.Veritable Records of Seongjong, volume 225. Life Yi Gu-ji was an illegitimate daughter of Prince Yangnyeong, first son of the third Joseon king, Taejong of Joseon and Queen Wongyeong. Her mother was a palace slave of Crown Prince Yangnyeong, whom he had two children with. She had an unnamed sister. Yi was given the title of Princess () and married Gwon Deok-young (), a lesser official, and went to live in Gwangju, her husband's hometown. They had two sons. Gwon died in 1470 and Yi was prevented from remarrying by social stigma, then by the issuing of the Anti-Remarriage Law of 1477. ''Eoudong'' is a 1985 South Korean film starring Ahn Sung-ki and Lee Bo-hee. Lee Bo-hee won the best actress award at Grand Bell Awards in 1986. Na Hye-seok (, 28 April 1896 – 10 December 1948) was a Korean feminist, poet, writer, painter, educator, and journalist. Her pen name was Jeongwol (). She was a pioneering Korean feminist writer and painter. She was the first female professional painter and the first feminist writer in Korea.
