Uerikon–Bauma Railway
The Uerikon–Bauma railway (german: Uerikon-Bauma-Bahn, UeBB) is a railway which formerly linked Uerikon, Hombrechtikon, Bubikon, Hinwil, Bäretswil and Bauma in the Swiss canton of Zurich. The line from Uerikon to Hinwil was closed in 1948, and little now remains other than a freight siding in the Bubikon area. From Hinwil to Bauma the line has been preserved by the Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland (DVZO) and sees heritage railway services. History The Uerikon to Bauma railway opened in 1901 and was the brain child of Adolf Guyer-Zeller, who would become famous as the builder of the Jungfrau Railway. The line provided a link between Uerikon, on the shores of Lake Zurich, and the Zürcher Oberland, including the town of Bäretswil where he owned a textile mill. Sursee-Triengen-Bahn
The Sursee-Triengen Railway (german: Sursee-Triengen-Bahn) (ST) is a railway company in Switzerland. It owns a railway line of only 8.9 km between Sursee, where it connects to the SBB-CFF-FFS network, and Triengen. The line was opened on 23 November 1912 with steam traction. Unlike most other railways in Switzerland, it was never electrified but a small diesel locomotive was purchased in 1965. The company also owns the Hinwil to Bäretswil section of the Uerikon–Bauma railway and leases the section from Bäretswil to Bauma. This line hosts limited freight services plus excursion trains of the Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland. Zürcher Oberland
The Zürcher Oberland ("Zurich highlands") in Switzerland, is the hilly south-eastern part of the canton of Zurich, bordering on the Toggenburg, including the districts of Uster, Hinwil, Pfäffikon as well as the Töss Valley as far as the district of Winterthur. The territory gradually fell under the control of the city of Zurich from 1408 to 1452. In the 18th century, the jurisdiction lay with the reeve of Grüningen for the southern part, and with the reeve of Kyburg for the northern part together with most of the Zürcher Unterland. Wallisellen–Uster–Rapperswil Railway Line
The Wallisellen–Uster–Rapperswil railway line is a railway line in the Swiss canton of Zurich. It is also known as the Glatthalbahn, Glatttalbahn or Glattalbahn (Gl-TB), although the latter name is now more commonly used to refer to the Stadtbahn Glattal, a nearby light rail system. The line runs from Wallisellen, where it diverges from the Zurich to Winterthur line, to Uster and Rapperswil. A second link from Zurich, via the Zürichberg Tunnel, joins the line just before Dübendorf, and both routes are used by through trains from Zurich. The line also has junctions with the Effretikon to Hinwil line, at Wetzikon, and the Tösstalbahn, at Rüti. At Rapperswil, it connects with the Lake Zurich right bank line, the Rapperswil to Ziegelbrücke line, and the Südostbahn over the Seedamm. Bubikon is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zurich and municipality of Bubikon. The station is located on the Wallisellen to Uster and Rapperswil railway line. Verkehrsbetriebe Zürichsee und Oberland (VZO) is a public transport operator in the region between Lake Zürich and the Zürcher Oberland to the south-east of the city of Zürich in the canton of Zürich.
