Udinese Calcio, commonly referred to as Udinese, is a professional Italian football club based in Udine, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, that currently plays in Serie A. It was founded on 30 November 1896 as a sports club, and on 5 July 1911 as a football club. The traditional team home kit is black and white striped shirt, black shorts, and white socks. The club broadcasts on channel 110 ( Udinese Channel) on digital terrestrial television in the north-east of Italy. It has many fans in Friuli and the surrounding areas. The Serie B (), currently named Serie Balkrishna Industries, BKT for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest division in the Italian football league system after the Serie A. It has been operating for over ninety years since the 1929–30 Serie B, 1929–30 season. It had been organized by Lega Nazionale Professionisti, Lega Calcio until 2010, when the Lega Serie B was created for the 2010–11 season. Common nicknames for the league are ''campionato cadetto'' and ''cadetteria'', since ''cadetto'' is the Italian name for junior or cadet. Andrea Sottil
Andrea Sottil (born 4 January 1974) is an Italian football coach and former footballer, who played as a defender, currently in charge of Udinese. Player career Sottil started his career with Torino and made his Serie A debut on 6 December 1992, in a 1–1 draw to Foggia. In 1994, he left Torino to join Fiorentina, then moving to Atalanta later in 1996. In 1999, he moved to Udinese, where he also had the opportunity to play at continental level in the UEFA Cup. Sottil was signed by Reggina in co-ownership deal in summer 2003, along with teammate Gonzalo Martínez. In summer 2005, he was signed by Catania, which he was the regular starter in the first two-season, but only played 7 games in 2007–08 Serie A. In August 2008, he was signed by Rimini. Stadio Friuli
The Stadio Friuli (known for sponsorship reasons as Dacia Arena) is an all-seater football stadium in Udine, Italy, and the home of Serie A club Udinese. The stadium was built in 1976 and has a capacity of 25,144. It is sponsored by Romanian car manufacturer Dacia. Structure The stadium is located in Rizzi, about 4 km from the city centre of Udine. Opened in 1976, as a replacement for Stadio Moretti, it used to have a maximum capacity of 41,652 seats. This capacity was recently reduced to 25,144, when the stadium underwent reconstruction. In 2013, the City of Udine granted Udinese Calcio a 99-year lease of the stadium. Giampaolo Pozzo
Giampaolo Pozzo (born 25 May 1941) is an Italian businessman, currently the owner of Udinese Calcio in Italy. His son Gino is the owner of Watford FC in England. Pozzo sold the family business, tool maker Freud, to Robert Bosch in 2008. Udinese Calcio Pozzo bought Udinese Calcio in July 1986, but after a betting scandal, the team was demoted to the second-tier Serie B. The club then suffered a nine-point deduction in the Serie A championship of 1986–87 season after winning promotion, ultimately leading to another relegation despite the acquisition of several prominent players, including Francesco Graziani, Fulvio Collovati and Daniel Bertoni. The ("Italy Cup") is an annual knockout cup competition in Italian football organized by the FIGC until the 2009–10 season and the Lega Serie A ever since. History The beginning of the tournament was turbulent, due to the complexity of the participation of the teams in the tournament, since its inception in 1921, the Italian championship was divided into two groups. The Anglo-Italian Cup ( it, Coppa Anglo-Italiana, also known as the Anglo-Italian Inter-League Clubs Competition and from 1976 to 1986 as the Alitalia Challenge Cup, Talbot Challenge Cup or Gigi Peronace Memorial) is a defunct European football competition. The competition was played intermittently between 1970 and 1996 between clubs from England and Italy. It was founded by Gigi Peronace, following the two-team Anglo-Italian League Cup in 1969.
