Union Sportive Madinet Sétif ( ar, الإتحاد الرياضي لمدينة سطيف), known as USM Sétif or simply USMS for short, is an Algerian football club located in Sétif, Algeria. The club was founded in 1933 and its colors are garnet and white. Their home stadium, Stade 8 Mai 1945, has a capacity of 18,000 spectators. The club is currently playing in the Inter-Régions Division. Sétif ( ar, سطيف, ber, Sṭif) is the capital of the Sétif Province in Algeria. It is one of the most important cities of eastern Algeria and the country as a whole, since it is considered the trade capital of the country. Inter-Régions Division (also known as ''Ligue Inter-Régions de football'') is the third-highest division overall in the Algerian football league system. The division has six groups based on the region of the country, which are East, West and Centre-East, Centre-West, South-east and South-west each containing 16 teams from their respective regions. The Algerian Cup ( ar, كأس الجزائر) also known the Republic Cup ( ar, كأس الجمهورية), is a football competition in Algeria, pitting regional teams against each other. It was established in October 1962, three months after independence, and has been played yearly since then apart from 1990 and 1993. The most successful clubs in this competition are USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, ES Setif and MC Alger with eight trophies for each. The record for consecutive wins in the competition is only two, several teams have achieved such USM Alger, CR Belouizdad, MC Oran, JS Kabylie and MC Algiers. Rachid Mekhloufi ( ar, رشيد مخلوفي; born 12 August 1936 in Sétif, French Algeria) is a French-Algerian former football striker. He later became a manager and coached the Algeria national football team. International career In the middle of the Algerian War, on 13 April 1958, ten of the most well-known France-Based professional football (soccer) players fled from France to go and play for their new FLN football team. Abdelhamid Kermali (April 24, 1931 – April 13, 2013) was an Algerian footballer and football manager of the Algerian national team. Kermali was born in Akbou, Algeria. He played in several Algerian clubs as a striker, including USM Alger, before leaving for France to play for FC Mulhouse, AS Cannes and Olympique Lyonnais, with whom he made 65 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring 14 goals.
