USAgain
USAgain is a for-profit textile recycling company operating in the United States. USAgain operates green and white collection bins in partnership with businesses, schools, and places of local government (bins are placed at these locations). The company was founded in Seattle in 1999 and has since expanded to over 10,000 collection sites in 15 states. USAgain is now headquartered in West Chicago, IL. In 2015, USAgain collected 50 million pounds of textiles for reuse and recycling. Textile recycling is the process of recovering fiber, yarn, or fabric and reprocessing the material into new, useful products. Textile waste is split into pre-consumer and post-consumer waste and is sorted into five different categories derived from a pyramid model. Textiles can be either reused or mechanically/chemically recycled. There has been a shift in recent years toward recycling textiles because of new regulations in several countries. In response, companies are developing products from both post-consumer waste and recycled materials such as plastics. Results from academic studies demonstrate that textile reuse and recycling are more advantageous than incineration and landfilling. Lake Forest is a city in Orange County, California. The population was 85,858 at the 2020 census. Lake Forest incorporated as a city on December 20, 1991. Prior to incorporation, the community had been known as El Toro.
