USA Women's 3x3 Teams
The USA Women's 3x3 Teams are two of the teams under the auspices of the USA Basketball organization. In 2007, FIBA decided to start championships for the 3x3 event (also called three-on-three), starting in 2010. Two events are held, one for athletes under 18 years of age and one open event. The under 18 event (U18) is held every year, although in every fourth year, starting with 2010, the event is part of the Youth Olympic Games. The open events are held every other year, in even-numbered years, starting in 2012. USA Basketball (USAB) is a non-profit organization and the governing body for basketball in the United States. The organization represents the United States in FIBA and the men's and women's national basketball teams in the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. Its chairman of the board is retired General Martin Dempsey and its CEO is Jim Tooley. The organization was founded in 1974 as the Amateur Basketball Association of the United States of America (ABAUSA). 2022 FIBA 3x3 World Cup – Women's Tournament
The 2022 FIBA 3x3 World Cup was held in Antwerp, Belgium from 21 to 26 June 2022. France captured their first title after defeating Canada in the final. Participating teams All FIBA continental zones are represented by at least one team. After the exclusion of Russia due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Israel was named as their replacement. Alyssa Thomas
Alyssa Thomas (born April 12, 1992) is an American professional basketball forward for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins. The New York Liberty drafted Thomas 4th overall in the 2014 WNBA draft, and immediately traded her to the Sun along with Kelsey Bone and a 2015 first-round draft pick in exchange for Tina Charles. Thomas is the University of Maryland's all-time leader in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles for both the women's and men's programs, and one of only three athletes in NCAAW history with six career triple-doubles. Chiney Ogwumike
Chinenye "Chiney" Ogwumike (born March 21, 1992) is a Nigerian-American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). In 2020, she became the first Black woman and the first WNBA player to host a national radio show for ESPN. She was one of the first and youngest commentators ever to be named an NBA analyst for the network covering the NBA, WNBA, and variety of sports, while simultaneously playing in the WNBA. Bria Nicole Hartley (born September 30, 1992) is a French-American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted seventh overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2014 WNBA draft and was immediately traded to the Washington Mystics. Hartley played shooting guard for the UConn women's basketball team, and won back to back national championships in 2013 and 2014. Skylar Kierra Diggins-Smith (born August 2, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Diggins was drafted third overall by the Tulsa Shock in the 2013 WNBA draft. In high school, she was the National Gatorade Player of the Year and the Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year. Rebecca Danielle Greenwell (born February 27, 1995) is an American basketball player. Early life Greenwell started playing for the Tennessee Flight, an AAU team, in seventh grade. She would go on to win three Nike Nationals championships with the program. High school career Greenwell attended Owensboro Catholic in Owensboro, Kentucky, where she was named to the Academic All-State team and set numerous school records. She missed her junior year after tearing her ACL at the 2011 FIBA 3x3 Under-18 World Championships.
