The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW or UNC Wilmington) is a public research university in Wilmington, North Carolina. It is part of the University of North Carolina System and enrolls 17,499 undergraduate and graduate students each year. It is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity". Founded on September 4, 1947, Wilmington College opened as a junior college, primarily providing education to World War II veterans. The school became a four-year liberal arts college in 1963, following legislation from the North Carolina General Assembly. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) is a collegiate List of NCAA conferences, athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA's NCAA Division I, Division I whose full members are located in East Coast states from Massachusetts to South Carolina. Wilmington is a port city in and the county seat of New Hanover County in coastal southeastern North Carolina, United States. Tina Martin
Tina Martin (born May 16, 1964) is an American college basketball coach. She is the interim head coach at UNC Wilmington. From 1996 to 2017, she was the head women's basketball coach at the University of Delaware. She helped make Delaware a women's basketball power, with eleven 20-win seasons including four regular-season CAA championships. Her teams also made four NCAA Tournament appearances, in addition to five WNIT appearances. She served as an assistant coach at Seton Hall University and at UNC Wilmington. Trask Coliseum
Trask Coliseum is a 5,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Wilmington, North Carolina. The coliseum was opened in 1977 and named after Raiford Graham Trask, a trustee of Wilmington College. It is home to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington Seahawks basketball team, as well as some graduations for New Hanover County high schools. The UNC Wilmington (UNCW) Seahawks are the varsity athletic teams representing the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina in intercollegiate athletics.
