UMass Lowell River Hawks Baseball
The UMass Lowell River Hawks baseball team represents University of Massachusetts Lowell, which is located in Lowell, Massachusetts. The River Hawks are an NCAA Division I college baseball program that competes in the America East Conference. They began competing in Division I in 2014 and joined the America East Conference the same season. The UMass Lowell River Hawks play all home games at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. Over their two seasons of postseason eligibility in the America East Conference, the River Hawks have played in two America East Tournaments, advancing to the semifinals in 2018 America East Conference Baseball Tournament, 2018. Since the program's inception in 1976, five River Hawks have gone on to play in Major League Baseball, highlighted by 1987 Gold Glove catcher Mike LaValliere. Ken Harring
Kenneth Nils Harring (born February 10, 1967) is an American college baseball coach who was the head coach of UMass Lowell River Hawks baseball, UMass Lowell from 2004 until 2023. Playing career Harring was a four-year player at NCAA Division II Le Moyne College where he helped the Dolphins to NCAA tournament bids in 1986, 1987 and 1989. Among Le Moyne's Division I leaders, Harring ranks second in batting (.367), third in slugging percentage (.609) and 21st in hits (108). He led the Dolphins in runs, hits and doubles in his junior and senior years. He was inducted into Le Moyne's Gold Wave Hall of Fame in 2003, Harring helped the Dolphins to a collective record of 54-18-1 in his junior and senior seasons (.740), Le Moyne's first years as a Division I program. Jack Leathersich
John Victor Leathersich (born July 14, 1990) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played for the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates between 2015 and 2017. Amateur career After graduating from Beverly High School, Leathersich attended the University of Massachusetts Lowell. In 2010 and 2011, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League. As a senior, he went 6-2 with a 1.62 earned run average 126 strikeouts (12.74 strikeouts per nine). The strikeouts and strikeouts per nine were both school records.
