UEFA Women's Player Of The Year Award
The UEFA Women's Player of the Year Award (previously known as the UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe Award) is an association football award given to the female footballer that is considered the best player playing for a women's football club in Europe during the previous season. The award was announced in 2013, two years after the creation of the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award, the equivalent award for male footballers. Nadine Angerer, Lena Goeßling, and Lotta Schelin made the shortlist for the inaugural year, with Nadine Angerer being selected as the winner on 5 September 2013 during the round of 32 and 16 draws for the 2013–14 UEFA Women's Champions League. Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg e. V., commonly known as VfL Wolfsburg, is a German women's football club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. Ada Martine Stolsmo Hegerberg (born 10 July 1995) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for the Division 1 Féminine club Lyon and the Norway national team. Dzsenifer Marozsán (; born 18 April 1992) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for French club Olympique Lyonnais, as well as the Germany national team. She previously played for 1. Åsa Nilla Maria Fischer (born 2 August 1984) is a Swedish footballer for Linköpings. She played in the Swedish national team between 2001 and 2022. She was previously the captain of FC Rosengård. Martina Müller (footballer)
Martina Müller (born 18 April 1980) is a retired German footballer. She played as a striker for VfL Wolfsburg and the German national team. Career Club Müller had played at several smaller clubs at youth level, before joining the reigning German champions FSV Frankfurt in 1998. Because many of club's star players, such as Birgit Prinz and Sandra Smisek, had left that summer, Müller immediately became a regular starter and helped the team avoid relegation. After two years, she moved to SC 07 Bad Neuenahr, where she played for four seasons. In 2005, she joined VfL Wolfsburg, at a time when the club had just been relegated to the second division.
