UDR-Tabbat
The Union for Democracy and the Republic (, UDR-Tabbat) is a political party in Niger. Its founding leaders were former List of heads of government of Niger, Prime Minister Amadou Cissé and Amadou Madougou. History The party was formed by Cissé on September 12, 1999 after a split with the Rally for Democracy and Progress (Niger), Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP-Jama'a) party. Cissé had been Prime Minister of Niger under former coup leader Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara, who formed the RDP in 1997. Following Maïnassara's assassination in April 1999, Cissé and RDP party president Hamid Algabid vied for the party's presidential nomination for the Nigerien general election, 1999, 1999 general elections. Algabid and his supporters won, and Cissé was expelled from the RDP. A faction of the RDP persisted in supporting Cissé,

Political Parties In Niger
This article lists political parties in Niger. Niger has a multi-party system, with two to three strong political parties and smaller parties electorally successful to take seats in the National Assembly of Niger, National Assembly. These smaller parties frequently enter into electoral coalitions with their more powerful opponents, forming blocs in both government and opposition. Party naming Nigerien political parties are commonly known both by their acronyms and a nickname. The latter tradition began prior to independence with the Union of Popular Forces for Democracy and Progress-Sawaba, Nigerien Democratic Union-Sawaba. Sawaba ("Freedom" in Hausa language, Hausa) became the most common name of the party. Today all large parties have an official "nickname", usually in Hausa, Djerma language, Djerma or other national languages, while the official party name is in French.
