U8 (Berlin U-Bahn)
U8 is a line on the Berlin U-Bahn. It has 24 stations and is long. The U8 is one of three north–south Berlin U-Bahn lines (U6, U9), and runs from Wittenau to Neukölln via Gesundbrunnen. The original proposal was for a suspended monorail like the Wuppertal Schwebebahn. Colouring and naming The U8 line has had dark blue as its distinguishing colour since it first opened in 1927. It initially ran between Gesundbrunnen and Neukölln and was therefore known as the GN-Bahn. Until 1966 it was designated the D line; when the U-Bahn then changed to a numeric designation system, it was renamed Line 8. In 1984, the letter U was added as part of efforts to better distinguish the S-Bahn from the U-Bahn. U8 Global Student Partnership For Development
The U8 Global Student Partnership for Development was a student-led global university network. Founded in 2005 by students in the wake of the Make Poverty History campaign, it provided an impartial platform for students to learn, share ideas and attempt to make a positive impact on the least developed parts of the world. It had as many as 50 member universities in countries such as Bulgaria, Ethiopia, India, Tanzania and the UK. The U8 sought to work towards a world of in which leaders and professionals understand and engage with international development issues. The U8 disbanded in 2011. History The U8 was founded in July 2005 by university students Sheena Sumaria and Natasha Hughes, after meeting during a summer internship at the UK Department for International Development (DfID). Armavia ( hy, Արմավիա) was an airline that existed between 1996 and 2013. It was Armenia's flag carrier, with its head office on the grounds of Zvartnots International Airport in Zvartnots, Armenia, near Yerevan. Beechcraft L-23 Seminole
The Beechcraft L-23 Seminole (later designated U-8) was the United States Armed Forces designation for the Beechcraft Twin Bonanza and Queen Air aircraft in its inventory. Design and development In 1951 the United States Army evaluated a Twin Bonanza at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and subsequently ordered four 'off-the-shelf' Model 50s as YL-23s, these being delivered in early 1952. Further examples of the Model 50 were ordered under the designation L-23A and Model B50s were also ordered under the designation L-23B. These accounted for the majority of Twin Bonanza production during 1952 and 1953, the first L-23A being delivered in February 1953 and the last L-23B being delivered in April the following year., shortly before cessation of the Korean War.
