U20 Barthés Trophy
The U20 Barthés Trophy is an annual rugby union competition that features national Under-20 teams from Africa, organised by Rugby Africa. The tournament began in 2007 with Uganda as the host, which saw Namibia winning the title. Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. 2015 African Rugby Under-19 Cup Division "A"
The 2015 African Rugby Under–19 Cup (Rugby Africa Championship) Division A was the ninth edition of the African Rugby Under-19 Cup for Under 19 national teams. It was held in Harare, Zimbabwe from August 26 to August 29. The tournament served as Africa's qualifier for the 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy. Namibia won the tournament and as a result qualified for the Junior Rugby Trophy. Zimbabwe automatically qualified for the Trophy due to being selected as hosts. The 2021 U20 Barthés Trophy tournament was held from 24 June to 11 July 2021 in Nairobi, Kenya. Only three nations participated in the event, hosts Kenya competed against Senegal and Madagascar. 2019 U20 Barthés Trophy
The 2019 U20 Barthés Trophy was hosted by Kenya from 4 April–12 May. Kenya won the tournament after beating Namibia 21–18, they also qualified for the 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy that was held in Brazil. Format The winner was determined by the results of the finals. The winner of Pool B will be promoted to Pool A and the winner of Pool C will be promoted to Pool B in 2020. The winner of Pool A, Kenya, participated in the 2019 Junior World Cup Trophy. The last group in Pool A will be relegated to Group B, the last group in Group B will be relegated to Pool C and the last class in Group C will be replaced by a new team in 2020. World Rugby Junior Championship
The World Rugby Under 20 Championship (known as the IRB Junior World Championship until 2014) is an international rugby union competition. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, World Rugby, and is contested by 12 men's junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement. This event replaced the IRB's former age-grade world championships, the Under 19 and Under 21 World Championships. The inaugural tournament was held in June 2008, hosted by Wales and with 16 teams participating. Wales was announced as host for the inaugural tournament in November 2007. The number of participating nations was reduced to 12 before the 2010 tournament due to financial reasons.
