Overview Generally speaking, Uruguayans went to Germany as part of a wave of emigration due to economic or political reasons. Many of them got established in Germany for decades. In the GDR During the civic-military dictatorship in Uruguay, the German Democratic Republic received several exiled Uruguayan communists. Maybe the most prominent of them was Marina Arismendi (a future Senator and Minister in the 2000s), who spent there many years as a Spanish-language teacher. Adrian Sutil
Adrian Sutil (; born 11 January 1983) is a German-Uruguayan racing driver who raced in Formula One for seven seasons: from 2007–2011, then 2013–2014. He drove for the Spyker F1 Team, Force India F1 Team and the Sauber F1 Team. He was also the reserve driver for the Williams F1 Team in . Sutil started karting at the age of 14 and moved into single seater racing in 2002 in the Swiss Formula Ford series where he won the title. He moved up into Formula Masters Austria and started 1 race before stepping into Formula BMW ADAC in 2003. Sutil then raced in the Formula 3 Euroseries where he was the runner-up to Lewis Hamilton in 2005. Overview Emigration from Uruguay began tentatively about a century ago, but experienced a significant increase since the 1960s. Nicolás Pasquet (born 1958) is a conductor from Uruguay and professor of conducting. Biography Born in 1958 in Montevideo, Uruguay, Pasquet studied violin and conducting at the National Music College. He later studied in Germany, violin at the Stuttgart College of Music and conducting in Nürnberg. Nicolas Pasquet's conducting career started after winning in two occasion the National Competition for Young Conductors (1984 and 1986) and the first prize of the International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors in 1987. Gary Christofer Kagelmacher Pérez (born 21 April 1988) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a right-back or a central defender for Chilean club Universidad Católica. Club career Born in Montevideo of German descent, Kagelmacher began his professional career with local club Danubio FC. In 2007, aged 19, he was loaned to Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish Segunda División B, being first choice from an early stage; the move was made permanent at the end of his first season. Enrique Loedel Palumbo
Enrique Loedel Palumbo (Montevideo Uruguay, June 29, 1901 – La Plata Argentina, July 31, 1962) was an Uruguayan physicist. Loedel Palumbo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and studied at the University of La Plata in Argentina. His doctoral advisor was the German physicist of Jewish origin Richard Gans. Loedel wrote his Ph.D. thesis in December 1925 on optical and electrical constants of sugar cane. An extract of the thesis was published in German in ''Annalen der Physik'' in 1926. He then began his career as professor in La Plata. During Albert Einstein, Einstein's visit to Argentina in 1925 they had a conversation about the differential equation of a point-source gravitational field, which resulted in a paper published by Loedel in ''Physikalische Zeitschrift''. Bob Humid (also known as Robert Feuchtl) is a German producer, DJ, sound designer and mastering engineer in the Cologne electronic music and studio scene. His musical work expands from electronic breakbeats to experimental electronica while occasionally touching the area of club music and pop. He describes his own music as "eclectica".
