Field Hockey At The 2014 South American Games
The men's and women's field hockey competitions at the 2014 South American Games were the second inclusion of hockey at the South American Games. Both tournaments were held in conjunction with one another between 8 and 16 March 2014 at Club Deportivo Manquehue in Santiago, Chile. In the men's tournament, Argentina won the gold medal for the second time by defeating Chile 8–1 in the final. Venezuela won the bronze medal by defeating Brazil 3–2 in the bronze-medal match. In the women's tournament, Argentina won the gold medal for the second time by defeating Chile 3–1 in the final. Uruguay won the bronze medal by defeating Brazil 3–0 in the bronze-medal match. Uruguay Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Uruguay women's national field hockey team represents Uruguay in women's international field hockey competitions. It is controlled by the Federación Uruguaya de Hockey Sobre Césped History Field hockey in Uruguay is traditionally a sport played by the middle and upper-class, with most playing activity among private schools in the capital city, Montevideo. In 1999, the Uruguayan Olympic Committee constructed the first synthetic hockey field in the country. To ensure better player retention, an U17 team was created in 2002. By 2003, efforts were underway to introduce the sport to more state schools. 2018–19 Men's Hockey Series
The 2018–19 Men's Hockey Series was the inaugural season of the Hockey Series, a field hockey championship for men's national teams. The tournament started in June 2018 and finished in June 2019. Format The Hockey Series was open to all national teams that were not playing in the Pro League. The Hockey Series took place in two rounds, the Open and the Finals. The nine highest-ranked teams in the FIH World Rankings (as of 9 June 2017) skipped the Open and advance directly to the Finals. All other national teams played in the Hockey Series Open, which featured eight regional events with up to six teams each. Fifteen teams qualified from the Hockey Series Open to the FIH Series Finals, for a total of 24 teams in the Finals. Those teams played in three events, with eight teams per event (three automatic qualifiers and five that advanced from the Open). 2016–17 Men's FIH Hockey World League
The 2016–17 Men's FIH Hockey World League was the third edition of the men's field hockey national team league series and last season of the World League. The tournament started in April 2016 in Singapore and finished in December 2017 in Bhubaneswar, India. The Semifinals of this competition will also serve as a qualifier for the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup as the 10/11 highest placed teams apart from the host nation and the five continental champions qualify. Australia won the tournament's Final round for a record second time after defeating Argentina 2–1 in the final match. India won the third place match by defeating Germany 2–1. The 2015 Men's Pan American Challenge was the second edition of the Men's Pan American Challenge. It was held between 3 and 11 October 2015 in Chiclayo, Peru, simultaneously with the women's tournament. Brazil won the tournament for the first time after defeating Venezuela 1–0 in the final. The 2011 Men's Pan American Challenge was the first edition of the Men's Pan American Challenge. It was held between 31 July and 7 August 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, simultaneously with the 2011 Women's Pan American Challenge, women's tournament.
