Ureshino Opening
In shogi, the Ureshino (嬉野流 ''ureshino-ryū'') opening is a newer aggressive Static Rook opening characterized by moving the right silver to the sixth file and then pulling back the bishop to the silver's start position. It has an element of surprise as the move sequences are nonstandard and not found in professional play. Ureshino can be played against both Static Rook and Ranging Rook opponents. The opening is named after amateur player Hiroaki Ureshino (嬉野宏明) who invented it. The opening aims for a very fast attack with the tradeoff being a less secure king. Initial moves 1.S-68. Tempo (chess)
In chess and other chess-like games, a tempo is a "turn" or single move (a half-move or ply made either by White or Black). When a player achieves a desired result in one fewer move, the player is said to "gain a tempo"; conversely, when a player takes one more move than necessary, the player is said to "lose a tempo". Similarly, when a player forces their opponent to make moves not according to their initial plan, one is said to "gain tempo" because the opponent is wasting moves. A move that gains a tempo is often called "a move with tempo". A simple example of losing a tempo may be moving a rook from the h1-square to h5 and from there to h8 in the first diagram; simply moving from h1 to h8 would have achieved the same result with a tempo to spare. The Mino castle (美濃囲い ''minō gakoi'' or 本美濃囲い ''hon minō gakoi'') is a castle used in shogi. Central Rook
In shogi, Central Rook (中飛車 ''nakabisha'') is a subclass of Ranging Rook openings in which the rook is positioned on the fifth (central) file. However, since the central file can be thought of as the dividing line between Ranging Rook and Static Rook positions, it is also possible to find Static Rook positions using a rook that has been moved to the central file. Side Pawn Capture
In shogi, Side Pawn Capture (横歩取り ''yokofudori,'' also translated as ''Side Pawn Picker, Side Pawn Piker'' or simply 横歩 ''yokofu'' ''Side Pawn'') is a Double Static Rook opening. The ''side pawns'' referred to are the pawns that are advanced in order to open both players' bishop diagonal. (P34 is White's side pawn, P76 is Black's.) In this opening, this pawn is captured by an opponent's rook in a gambit move – typically, made by Black with Rx34. This is one of the few gambits in shogi. A gambit (from Italian , the act of tripping someone with the leg to make them fall) is a chess opening in which a player sacrifices with the aim of achieving a subsequent advantage. Fortress or Yagura (矢倉囲い or 櫓囲い ''yaguragakoi'') is a castle used in shogi. It is considered by many to be the strongest defensive position in shogi in Double Static Rook games. The most common form of Fortress is the Gold Fortress. Besides the Gold Fortress, there are many variant forms. And, there are development relations between Fortress and other castles.
