''Untying the Knot'' is an American reality television series that premiered June 4, 2014, and airs on Bravo. The series follows the life of Vikki Ziegler Vikki Ziegler is an American lawyer and author. Her book ''The Pre-marital Planner: A Complete Legal Guide to a Perfect Marriage'' was published in 2012, and from 2014 to 2016 she was the focus of the reality television show ''Untying the Knot'' ..., a divorce mediator. Ziegler mediates, advises and divides divorcing couples' assets out of court. Mark and Michael Millea work with Ziegler in appraising items, they are featured regularly in the series. In November 2014, the show was renewed for a second season. The second season was expanded to an hour-long format. The second season premiered on November 8, 2015. Early life Vikki Ziegler was born in Manhattan and raised in Wayne, New Jersey by South African parents. Ziegler's parents divorced in 1985 when she was twelve years old, and reportedly, she argued for (and convinced) her parents to seek joint custody during the proceedings. Several cameras—either film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. Description Generally, the two outer cameras shoot close-up shots or "crosses" of the two most active characters on the set at any given time, while the central camera or cameras shoot a wider master shot to capture the overall action and establish the geography of the room. Mediation is a structured, interactive process where an impartial third party neutral assists disputing parties in resolving conflict through the use of specialized communication and negotiation techniques.
