Gypsy (band)
Gypsy was an American progressive rock band from Minnesota, formed as The Underbeats (1962–1968). Gypsy was the house band at the Whisky a Go Go, West Hollywood, California from September 1969 to April 1971 and were known in 1970 for their US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 single "Gypsy Queen Part 1", which peaked at #62. The track "Dead And Gone" was played extensively on KSHE St. Louis, KADI St. Louis, and KWK St. Louis. Most of Gypsy's music was composed and written by guitarist and singer Enrico Rosenbaum. Drummer Bill Lordan went on to play with Sly & the Family Stone and a long career with Robin Trower. Keyboardist James Walsh continued the band in various incarnations as The James Walsh Gypsy Band. Jack Richardson (record Producer)
Jack Arnold Richardson CM (23 July 1929 – 13 May 2011) was a Juno Award-nominated Canadian record producer and Order of Canada recipient. He is perhaps best known for producing the biggest hit records from The Guess Who from 1969 to 1975. He was part of the faculty at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario as an educator in the Music Industry Arts program for almost 20 years, as well as at the Harris Institute for the Arts in Toronto, Ontario. His son is well-known record producer Garth Richardson. Biography Richardson was born in Toronto, Ontario, and had early musical training playing in various school bands. Chicago is an American rock music, rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1967. The group began calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority in 1968, then shortened the name in 1969. Self-described as a "rock and roll band with Horn (instrument), horns", Chicago's songs often combine elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. Bill Lordan (born May 22, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN), is an American rock music drummer who has been in a number of bands, such as The Mystics, Gypsy, Robin Trower Band and Sly & The Family Stone. He began playing in sixth grade when his teacher offered after-school lessons. Career Lordan started his recording career with The Amazers, The Mystics, The Esquires and Gypsy, a progressive rock band from Minnesota, recording three albums with them from 1971 to 1973. He also recorded with Bobby Womack and Ike and Tina Turner. He then joined Sly & The Family Stone. By 1974, Sly & The Family Stone released the album ''Small Talk''. Along with violinist Sid Page, The first drummer for Sly & The Family Stone was Greg Errico who was succeeded on the album ''Fresh'' by Andy Newmark. Walter Parazaider (born March 14, 1945) is an American woodwind musician best known for being a founding member of the rock band Chicago. He plays a wide variety of wind instruments, including saxophone, flute, and clarinet. He also occasionally plays guitar. Early life Parazaider was born in Maywood, Illinois, and began playing the clarinet at the age of 9. As a teenager, his growing talent was being groomed for a career as a professional orchestral musician, and he gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in classical clarinet performance from DePaul University. James Pankow
James Carter Pankow is an American trombone player, songwriter and brass instrument player, best known as a founding member of the rock band Chicago. Early life, family and education Born in St. Louis, Missouri of German and Irish descent, Pankow was one of nine siblings. He is the older brother of actor John Pankow, who appeared on the TV series ''Mad About You''. The family moved to Park Ridge, Illinois when he was eight years old. Pankow was influenced by his musician father, Wayne. He started playing the trombone at St. Paul of the Cross Elementary School. Early life and education Lee David Loughnane was born in Elmwood Park, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago, to Philip and Juanita Loughnane. Lee is the second-oldest of five children. He began playing trumpet at age 11, using the same instrument played by his dad when he was in the Army Air Force.
