A Tomb of the Unknown Soldier or Tomb of the Unknown Warrior is a monument dedicated to the services of an unknown soldier and to the common memories of all soldiers killed in war. Such tombs can be found in many nations and are usually high-profile national monuments. Throughout history, many soldiers have died in war with their remains being unidentified. Following World War I, a movement arose to commemorate these soldiers with a single tomb, containing the body of one such unidentified soldier. William Eckert
William Dole Eckert (January 20, 1909 – April 16, 1971) was a lieutenant general in the United States Air Force, and later the fourth Commissioner of Major League Baseball from to . Personal life, career, and death William Eckert was born on January 20, 1909, in Freeport, Illinois, to Frank Lloyd and Harriet Julia (née Rudy) Eckert. The Eckert family moved to Indiana, settling in Madison. In 1924, at age 15, Eckert enlisted in the Indiana National Guard. His older brother had also been a member of the Indiana National Guard. Eckert matriculated at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in July 1926. It was there that he earned the nickname "Spike" while playing intramural football. The Unknown Soldier is a fictional superhero character who first appeared in ''Our Flag Comics'' #1 (August 1941) from Ace Comics. The comic was devoted to patriotic superheroes, and also included Captain Victory and the Three Cheers. It was recorded at The Barbershop Studios in Hopatcong, New Jersey, and released on August 8, 2006, through Hollywood Records. "The Unknown Soldier" is the first single from the Doors' 1968 album ''Waiting for the Sun'' and released in March of that year by Elektra Records. An accompanying 16mm publicity film for the song featuring the band was directed and produced by Edward Dephoure and Mark Abramson. The song became the band's fourth Top 40 hit in the US, peaking at number 39 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, and remained upon the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 list for eight weeks. Lyrics "The Unknown Soldier" has been perceived as Jim Morrison's reaction to the Vietnam War and the way that conflict was portrayed in American media at the time. According to author Richie Weidman, Morrison was inspired to write the lyrics after visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, at the Arlington National Cemetery, on November 25, 1967; the same day in which the band performed at the Hilton Hotel, International Ballroom. Warmen is a Finnish heavy metal music, heavy metal band assembled by keyboardist Janne Wirman, Janne "Warman" Wirman. Wirman has played with Children of Bodom from 1997 until their disbandment in 2019, and in 2000 created a musical project focused on instrumental work, which would only have guest singers on a few selected songs.
