The ''Academic Ranking of World Universities'' (''ARWU''), also known as the Shanghai Ranking, is one of the annual publications of world university rankings. The league table was originally compiled and issued by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003, making it the first global university ranking with multifarious indicators. Since 2009, ARWU has been published and copyrighted annually by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, an organization focusing on higher education that is not legally subordinated to any universities or government agencies. In 2011, a board of international advisory consisting of scholars and policy researchers was established to provide suggestions. Wimereux (; vls, Wimeruwe) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Wimereux is a coastal town situated some north of Boulogne, at the junction of the D233 and the D940 roads, on the banks of the river Wimereux. The river Slack forms the northern boundary of the commune, the English Channel the western. Farming and tourism are its principal activities. Sallaumines (; pcd, Sallaumine or ''Sallau'') is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department of northern France. Administration Sallaumines belongs to the Lens-Liévin intercommunality which consists of 36 communes, with a total population of 250,000 inhabitants. History The history of the area remains marked by the Courrières mine disaster which caused 1099 deaths on 10 March 1906 on the territories of Billy-Montigny, Méricourt and Sallaumines.
