University Of Western Australia Hockey Club
The University of Western Australia Hockey Club (UWAHC), is represented in every level of competition within Hockey WA which includes the top Men's and Women's Division, the Men's Wizard Cup and the Women's Wizard League competitions in Western Australia. It was formed in 1924 to cater for students at The University of Western Australia who wanted to play field hockey. The University of WA Hockey Club (UWAHC) is one of the largest hockey clubs in Western Australia with over 400 members in men's, women's and junior teams. Along with being one of the largest clubs in WA it is one of the strongest clubs in competition, with a majority of the teams annually reaching finals. The recent decade has seen the UWAHC accomplish outstanding levels of success. UWA Sports Park
UWA Sports Park is a multi-purpose sporting and recreation reserve in Mount Claremont, Western Australia. It is located on 56 hectares of land approximately 10 km west of Perth and is owned by the University of Western Australia. The park provides sporting facilities for Australian rules football, Rugby union, soccer, and field hockey as well as baseball, softball and tennis. The park has clubhouse and changing room facilities and the fields have lighting suitable for hosting night time sports events. The land that UWA Sports Park is situated on was gifted to the university by the Government of Western Australia in 1904. Tristram Woodhouse
Tristram Woodhouse (born 13 June 1974) is a former field hockey forward from Australia, who made his debut for the Men's National Team in 2003 in a Test series against The Netherlands. That was in the second match of the test series in Canberra. Woodhouse scored his maiden goal in Australia's 3–3 draw in Buderim against the Dutch. In 2003 he competed in the Champions Trophy where the team won a silver medal. He was also a member of the successful Kookaburra team when they won a gold medal at the Azlan Shah tournament in Malaysia 2004. Nicole Elaine Hudson (née Mott; born 6 July 1976) is an Australian former women's field hockey player. She was the captain of the Hockeyroos, Australia's national women's team, until her retirement from international hockey in 2009. She made her debut for Australia in 1993 and won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her AHL team is the Queensland Scorchers. Rechelle Margaret Hawkes, (born 30 May 1967 in Albany, Western Australia) is the former captain of the Australian Women's Hockey Team, best known as the ''Hockeyroos'',she was captain for eight years and became the second Australian woman after swimmer Dawn Fraser to win three Olympic gold medals at three separate Olympic Games: Seoul 1988, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. Hawkes also competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, where Australia finished fifth. Ray Strauss
Raymond Bernard Strauss (4 November 1927 – 28 July 2013) was an Australian sportsman who played both cricket and field hockey at high levels. From Perth, Western Australia, Strauss attended Perth Modern School and later the University of Western Australia, playing for the university's hockey club. Twice named captain of the all-Australian universities side, he was captain of the side on several occasions, including when the team shared the 1952 Syme Cup with the University of Adelaide.
