University Of Lagos Cricket Oval
The University of Lagos Cricket Oval is a cricket ground, in Akoka, Nigeria. In the year 2020,the Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe held a sod cutting ceremony to rebuild the Cricket Pitch and promised to build it to international standards. The pitch was redeveloped by the school's Alumni in honor of their couch Prof. Adebols Kukoyi who clocked 80years old then. In October 2021, the ground was the venue for the bilateral series between the hosts Nigeria and Sierra Leone which were the first T20Is played in Nigeria and was the first-ever T20Is for Sierra Leone cricket team. The series provided both sides with preparation for the T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier in November 2021. The series also saw resumption of the long-running cricketing rivalry between the two north-west African nations. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The Sierra Leone cricket team toured Nigeria in October 2021 to play six Twenty20 International (T20I) matches at the University of Lagos (Unilag) Cricket Oval in the Akoka suburb of Lagos. Sierra Leone stunned the hosts by winning the first match with a single scored off the last ball of their twenty overs. Nigeria levelled the series after another close finish in the second game, winning by just six runs. 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier
The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was played as part of qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, during October and November 2021. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers will be played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The Africa Qualifier started with a sub-regional qualifier consisting of two groups, with the top team in each group progressing to the Regional Final. Peter Aho (born 2 March 2003) is a Nigerian cricketer. In March 2019, he was part of the Nigeria national under-19 cricket team that qualified for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. It is a relatively rare event in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket with only 43 occurrences as of 21 December 2022.
