United States At The 2022 Winter Paralympics
The United States competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics in Beijing, China which took place between 4–13 March 2022. In total, 65 athletes competed in six sports. It was the second largest delegation at the Games after the host China. Para ice hockey is represented by the most athletes, with 17. Julie Dussliere served as the team's Chef de Mission. Tyler Carter and Danelle Umstead served as flag bearers during the opening ceremony. Keith Gabel was the flag bearer during the closing ceremony. Brenna Huckaby
Brenna Huckaby (born January 22, 1996) is an American snowboarder. She competed at the 2018 Winter Paralympics, winning gold medals in the snowboard cross and banked slalom, and she won gold and a bronze medal at the 2022 Winter Paralympics. She is the first Paralympian to appear in the Swimsuit Issue of ''Sports Illustrated''. Early life and education Huckaby has two brothers. She was a nationally ranked gymnast. She learned to snowboard at age 15 at the National Ability Center. While still in school, Huckaby moved to Utah to pursue snowboarding. Sydney Jo Peterson (born February 17, 2002) is an American para cross-country skier. Career Peterson began skiing at the age of 5. She skied for Stillwater Area High School in Minnesota. Peterson won the silver medal in the women's 10km standing cross-country skiing event and the woman's standing cross country sprint event at the 2021 World Para Snow Sports Championships held in Lillehammer, Norway. She also won the bronze medal in the women's long-distance standing cross-country skiing event. Peterson competed at the 2022 Winter Paralympics and created history in her first Paralympic appearance after claiming a silver medal in the women's 15km classic standing event. Kendall Gretsch (born April 2, 1992) is an American triathlete, biathlete and cross-country skier. She was born with spina bifida. She has competed in both Summer Paralympics and Winter Paralympics and has a unique distinction of winning gold medals in both Summer Paralympics and Winter Paralympics.
