Unison (song)
"Unison" is a song written by Bruce Roberts and Andy Goldmark, and first recorded by the English singer Junior in 1983 for the Tom Cruise-starred movie '' All the Right Moves''. A minor hit, the song would attract a good deal of attention in 1990, when three female singers each covered the song and placed it on their respective albums of that year. Laura Branigan recorded the song for her sixth, self-titled album. Expatriate American singer Lory Bianco recorded the song for her album ''Lonely Is the Night''. The song's greatest success, however, would come when it was chosen to be the title track of Celine Dion's English debut album. Norman Washington "Junior" Giscombe (born 6 June 1957) is an English singer-songwriter often known as Junior who was one of the first British R&B artists to be successful in the United States. He is best known for his 1982 hit single, "Mama Used to Say". Career Giscombe was born in Wandsworth, London, England, and was a backing vocalist with Linx between 1980 and 1982. When turning towards a solo career, he was first billed simply as Junior. He scored a No. 7 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1982, with "Mama Used to Say". His follow-up single, "Too Late" also made the top 20 in the UK. "Mama Used to Say" was also a top 40 Pop and top 5 R&B hit in the United States, earning him a "Best Newcomer" award from ''Billboard'' magazine. Unison Tour
The Unison Tour is the third concert tour by Celine Dion. The tour was organized to support her ninth studio album ''Unison'' (1990). Dion performed her show 75 times in Canada History The tour had three legs. At first Céline Dion toured Quebec, starting in October 1990 in Drummondville and ending on 6 December 1990 in Quebec City. During one of the shows on 13 October 1990 in Sherbrooke Dion lost her voice for the second time (first time was during the Incognito tournée). Because of laryngitis, Dion had to postpone next three concerts in Montreal, between 16–18 October 1990. On 20 December 1990 it was announced that Dion has postponed the rest of her concert tour for a two-month period. She still suffered the effects of a bout with laryngitis, coupled with exhaustion from a series of performances at Theatre St. Denis. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides.
